C02 myth?
I really dont think C02 will ruin a solenoid if i'm thinking what a solenoid is on a paintball gun. Is it an electrical switch and armature, or is it something different like a pneumatic solenoid that actuates by an electrical solenoid when you fire?

with electro-pneumatic guns, the solenoid is a lot more fragile, and co2 could freeze it/ruin it. its not like a solenoid on a spyder that is metal and it just trips a sear.

on an eletric gun co2 can also ruin the board because of the proxcimity(sp) and the temperature

if you dont believe it try it and see what happens. co2 isnt great for any guns, even the mechanical ones. it wont hurt them badly, but you will have to clean them out a lot more than with HPA i think.

So it is a pneumatic solenoid with air flowing through it. I based my info off of the e-grip for the tippmann. OK. I was looking at the ICD BKO for my next gun. Does it absolutely need HPA?

Yeah just get a HPA tnak and be done with it. HPA is much mre consistant (CO2 barely works at all when its cold) and is much clearner and better for your markers internals. CO2 not only will freeze and break a noid, it can also lead to moisture building up on boards and interneals leading to rust and other damage.
HPA all the way!!!

Frozen Co2 doesn't make liquid when it melts. In a room temperature surrounding, it sublimes directly from a solid to a gas.
The cold temperature does, however, cause water vapor in the air to condense on the electronics. That's where your probem comes in.

Pretty much like everybody else said, the noid in your tippmann is there only to trip the sear. It is an electronically operated mechanical solenoid, and air never passes through it. The solenoid in something like a bko is an electronically operated pneumatic solenoid.

Hey... for HPA... would one of those cheaper tanks that look like heavy duty C02 tanks perform the same as fiber wrapped ones... or are they just heavier.

They're just heavier. The only performance difference in tanks comes from the regulator that is put on the tank.
