Protection

What kinda protection do you use when you play. Like do you wear any specific pants, shirt, sweater, EDIT: i ment mask not helmet... i type so fast I get sloppy, or even maybe some people wear a cup? I have only met a few that wear a cup... one friend wears these pants with different spots thicker then others. Im asking mostly becouse I dont wanna be over or under protected. Seeing as soon ima be going to see my friend in mountains again he is gonna get his friend to let me use a gun like he does and then we are gonna play. But my friend says first time he played they told him to go to a certain spot and when he whent around the corner.... they shot him up good. And so I suspect some type of .... welcome.. will be done for me to.

you don't really require much protection beyond a mask. The balls only hurt really bad if they are shooting over the 300fps limit or when you are shot at close range. That and when really cheap paint bounces off you, which oddly hurts more then when it breaks.

i'd bring gloves b/c finger shots just sting badly and also a longsleeve shirt or some not too thick pants if you are afraid of pain.

have you ever been shot before? When you're playing you may not even notice it thanks to adrenaline.

My friend says he was sore from it becouse they shot kinda close. Im not sure if he is messing with my head or serious. I dont mind little stings but as I said, im afraid for my soldier lol. But yeah I have been shot but only by one of those super cheap pump ones... i think it's litteraly cheapest gun around, I used one once when my cousin and his dad had one becouse they thought for so little money o well a little fun. Yeah there fun but I think thers gonna be a big difference in how hard they hit.

DO NOT wear a chest protector. Please for the love of all that is paintball. Since you are a begginer I'll reccomend stuff you may already have.

Pants-bdu pants are great if you have them, if not then some thick baggy jeans work ok too.
Shirt-no sweatshirt, just go with a t-shirt over a lonsleeve shirt.
Gloves-if you want gloves, mechanics gloves or bmx gloves are great.
helmet-??? you don't wear a helmet in paintball, you wear a mask.
cup- if you want, actually since your new, I'd recomend it. WHen you get better, you will rarely get into a situation where you risk getting shot in the balls, unless your form sucks.

it will hurt a little more from closer range. Look, imagine you got punched by a friend. He punches you w/ medium force. Its enough for you to say "ow" perhaps but a few minutes later you can hardly remember you were hit.
