total newb here but the regulator controls the velocity and pressure of the air in the gun right?

Im currently using an Ion and people tell me that i should get a new regulator and i was wondering what exactly would I get out of buying a new regulator?

A reg regulates the pressure of the air going into the gun. With a new reg you'll be getting more consistancy, a good reg is the cp reg. It runs for about 60 new.

on a co2 tank?

it's a valve that opens and closes teh flow of the c02.
if it's an air tank, the ASA(air source adapter) has a knob that screws in and presses the valve, allowing air to flow. when you screw it out the valve depresses, stopping air flow.

if you're using co2, dont' get a cp reg. theyr'e not meant to be used with co2 and it'll get torn up before you can even fire your marker a few times.

if you're using co2 get a palmers regulator, they can be used with co2 and air.

The thing that determines if you need a new reg is the chrono. If you are getting good chonos don't replace the reg. Get a trigger or feedneck or barrel.

sorry to butt in, but are regs required for an HPA gun to effectivly control the velocity then in terms of keeping it consistant and increasing the range of velocity to choose from?
