plz give me some advice pplz... im kind of scared of being hit sometimes. but other times, I run out in the open and blow everyone away. how do I overcome this fear?

Just have to decide that you're going to deal with the situation and try to come out on top.

Look at it this way, if it helps: If you get scared and hide, the other players will only get closer and become more likely to shoot you. Be aggressive and take control.

You can do it sometimes from what you say, so just do it more often.

I'm the opposite. I don't fear getting hit at all. We even played a few games of mercy ball this last time.

How old are you? I used to be pretty scared of getting hit when I was 13 or 14 but after a few years of playing its dissipated. Being slightly scared of getting hit can be good, keeps you more alert and aware of the situation, just as long as you aren't so scared that you don't come out of your bunker. The only real way to overcome this fear is to keep playing. Fight through it, thats what I did, worked pretty well. Once I started playing speedball and after I bunkered my first person I found out how unbelievably AWESOME it felt to bunker someone. I also realized that I would have to become more aggressive to be able to bunker people and just to play speedball at all. I also got bunkered a few times myself and after that every hit seemed to get less painfull and I forgot my fear. It isn't that bad, and I think age can have a large effect on it, if you're still fairly young (say.... under 14) give it some time. As you grow older your pain tolerance will increase, other horomones will make you feel more brave and aggressive, and you'll find it isn't an issue anymore.

First off get a hard cup! And they size the straps way to small. Get a supper XXL if your a 35 inch waist. That will at least let you know you won't get hurt. Then just think about the fun you have when you play hard. Yeh it hurts to get shot sometimes but the fun outweighs it. If your getting tagged somewhere a lot such as the top of the head get a ball cap and wear it backwards or other type of armor. Also remember that if it didn't hurt at all there wouldn't be near the rush playing.

I find that trying to like amp yourself up before the game helps a lot. Once the adrenaline gets going you wont feel anything anyway. I dunno, I've played the first time when I was 9 (I'm 17 now) and can still remember the exact spot I got hit my first time. Just keep playing, you'll get over it.

seriously once you get in the game you shouldnt feel anything because of the addrenline. You'll get used to it after you play a bunch and whatever you do dont let the fear overcome you and stop you from making that big move

The hardest part of the game should be working yourself up and getting into it. Once the game has started you shouldn't have much of a problem.

Ive been hit in the head without my mask on. a couple of centimetres from my right eye. i called time out cuz my and my bro were playing our little game "Quick draw". hes a idiot and fired 5 seconds after I called time out. he saw I had my mask off. I poped him all over after that.he was running to the house and I followed while shooting him.

And this idiocy is why Fox News and the AMA aand soccer moms all over this country want to ban paintball... when you have a loaded marker with no barrel plug or condom on, then its MASKS ON with no exceptions, NONE.. Otherwise you are just asking for trouble -- as you discovered, the ball doesn't abide by "time out". Your sight is too important. You have used your luck up on the near miss -- and a torn retina or orbital blowout are by far worse then the inconvience of wearing your mask and practicing BASIC safety[/rant]

Anyway -- to answer your question. Getting hit stings, hurts, burns, etc. and there is no way to get around the fact that you will get hit. Hell the ball is travelling near 200mph and it smarts when it hits. However, there are ways tminimize the pain of a hit somewhat. Wear baggy clothes such as a hoody or something like that -- that takes some of the impact. Jersey's look cool, but offer basically NO protection from hits. Some folks wear a cup, thats up to you ( I don't, even when I ref). I have been hit in the bits and peices before, and yes it sucks, but it happens so infrequently that it doesn't override the discomfort of wearing a nut hut. I do wear arm/elbow pads and leg / shin pands(especially when I ref) cause I am on my belly a lot during play. But otherwise I just get hit.

So my advice is to just get hit -- its kinda like football. You know that if you play, you will get tackled. simillarly, when you play paintball you will get shot. If you let the fear of getting hit rule your game, you will never want to play again. It only hurts for a minute.. Besides its fun to make folks go EEEEEEWWWWWW when they see the welts...

well then pick out a bunker before the game starts. pick one that is not too far up, and go there. simple but effective. i always plan where im goin so i dont have to stop and think about it while im runnin

edit: and for pain... no comment cuz i dont know of pain. wrestling took that away from me.

i find when playing a woodsball game im not as agresiive cause it isnt rly as fun for me but when im playing speedball im rly agresive cause im into the game i forget about everything else all im thinking about is getting the other team think of it this way. if u play hard and agressive and u hit the whole other team u wont get hit

By mathematical estimations if it is still traveling at 300fps then it is approximately 204.5 and it will slow down exponentially from there. I don't have the equation quite right yet. I'm not so great with exponential decay, and the air resistence varies which adds to the challenge.

btw yeah like everybody has said, it hurts getting hit, but just stick it through you will get used to getting hit. i did and now im not scared at all to do that runthrough or anything else on the field

Just keep practicing. thats how when i was when i first started. and ive only been playing a year and the pain has already gone away completely. i dont really feel it anymore. just give it some time dude...keep practicin

yea i am 14 and when i got my gun all my buddys got one and we where all aferid of getting hit so a woodsball game was LONG! but after 1 or 2 times out i got over it and played aggresive and upgraded my barral and that befor my group and they all where still scared so after i shot them like 4 games in a row they got over it to if you really aferid of it thar much shot your self lol pain will be a lot but you can think nothing will hurt that bad unless i let some one get that close and there only going to get that close if you not playing aggresiv
