budget beginner??

well... im just starting and i want to get a gun thats quiet, reliable and accurate. i don't want to spend over like $250 or $300
i saw a nice tippman custom 98 with a mask at wal mart for $180 packaged together, i figured i'd buy that... but i want opinions first.

well if you are mostly going to be playing in the woods i would say a tippman 98. But if you are going to be playing speedball more(inflated stuff) i would say a spyder.

Well, your not going to really be able to achieve quiet with open bolt blowback markers. You could look into an autococker, but thats not a good idea for a first gun. But like lets-c-u-dance said, if you play in the woods, a tippmann 98 package would be a great starter, or even a spyder still, but if you would also like to consider speedball you might want an electonic spyder. You can get imagines for the same price or less than tippy 98's. We are only alowed to say buy stuff online from anythingxtreme or xpaintball which I've ordered from and they are fine. You will most likely find the best deals online.

MG has a good point. You might even be able to get an ion package for that price if you look around used. DOnt be afraid to buy used....its no sin. Shoot ive never had a brand new pb gun in ten years fo playing, jus never felt the need to buy one.

Accuracy is determined by paint to barrel match not your marker.

For reliability, you cant beat an automag. They can be had for around 100 or so. Tippmans are pretty nice, the mag is better however. Spyders are also fairly durable guns despite poorer qulaity materials. For an absolute beginner, a classic mag, some kind of basic e-hopper(or grav feed will work...just have to be careful) an anti-siphoned Co2 tank and a mask should get you playing.

Not totally true. The displacement of the propellant (whether it be CO2 or Nitrogen) on the paintball within the chamber can have an effect on the accuracy as well as barrel porting.

As to which marker, I'd have to say go with a 98c or the automag as txaggie08 said. I personally have a 98c and I played speedball with it perfectly fine for 2 years until I got my Shocker. I would go against a Spyder, I've just had bad experiences with all of my friend's Spyders. They seem to break every other time we play, whereas my Tippmann 98 Custom has never had even the slightest problem. If you are willing to buy used an Ion would not be a bad choice either. Although with an Ion you are going to need a compressed air tank and and electric hopper.

A Tippmann A-5 would be a good gun, those are about 215 now. That is if you are palying woods.

If you're buying a Tippmann, get a 98 custom.

If you're buying a Spyder, get an Imagine.

If you're buying an ion, you need a Reloader B and an HPA tank.

I suggest a 98 custom with 20 oz co2, some random 200 ct hopper, and a vforce vantage mask.

Why get a vantage? I have had a V-force Armor since I started and I don't have any complaints, especially since it costs under $20. Also, don't get a Pirahna and don't get an A-5. Tippman 98 Custom or an Ion would probably be your best choices.
