My New Gun
I've read the stickys and looked around at a few different sites, and I still have a couple of questions.
I've played for a few years, but never bought my own gun , I've always just used one of my friends' spare guns. I'm about to be playing a lot and need to get my own gun. I'm looking to spend about $300 on a gun. I want a gun with good accuracy and enough speed to take into a speedball game. I really liked the Ion, but would like to stick with CO2. I had looked at an A-5 for a while, but it seems like it would end up being a sort of large target in a speedball game. I really like the Promaster http://www.anythingxtreme.com/Indian...3270C1354.aspx
But I'm not sure if that's a good place to order from, because that's a really great price for one. I've also heard people talking about the first shot dropping...and I wouldn't want that either. I don't know if that's true though.
I'd just like to get my hands on a gun that is small accurate and fast. Just something that will be very versatile in different situations.
That was my second question. What's a really good place to order a gun from online?
Thanks for listening and any advice you guys have to offer!

Well that sucks. I fired my friend's autococker yesterday and really liked it. What kind of gun would you recommend?

We are only supposed to post links to xpaintball, which should be part of anythingxtreme I think.
Anyway, both the promaster and the ion would best be used with HPA.

I'm sort of leaning back to the A-5. Is xpaintball.com a good online store though? Like...has anyone here ordered from them before? They have a GREAT deal on a Tippmann A-5. I just don't want anything messed up when I get my gun. And I want to know that i'm ordering from a store I can trust.

Don't get an A-5. I would only recomend one to a scenario type player and NEVER to a speedballer. I hear the Wrath holds up well with Co2. Someone correct me if that is wrong.

yes wrath is alright on CO2 because it is not truly electro pneumatic. if you have to stick to CO2 get a PMI EVO, those are pretty good. unless you plan on playing rec ball your entire life you will want to move on to HPA though.

Are you going to be playing mostly at a field? Because if you are only going to be playing at a field you might as well get an ion, a cheap hpa tank, and a used Halo. If you are going to be playing mostly renegade ball then that won't really work because you'd have to go get a refill every other hour.

The wrath regulator dosn't like CO2 that much. I wouldn't run it on Co2 for more then a couple of games.
If you don't want to have to replace a regulator after the 3rd or 4th time you take it out for a day of play, then for speedball your better off with a Piranha EVO or a spyder electra.

I'd go for a Pirahna Evo if I was you. Cheap, and it'll run fine on a revvy.

if your not going to get at least an ion, get a regular spyder imagine and a t-board/eye setup. Similar price, better performance...

Y spend all that money on a spyder Imagine??? lol eyes and a better board and every thing.... If you manage to pull that off, you'd have the same performace as an evo with a T-board, with 2 Times the work and money...

Basically I am looking for a gun that will perform well in scenario games and speedball. The people I play with usually just play scenario games, but I want to get a gun that will last me a while and that I will be able to take into a speedball game. I'd like to stick with CO2 because I get it for free = ) !!!!
By the way thanks for all the quick responses
I've also looked at some autocockers viewloaders and a raven gun. I'd like to stay away from a spyder if possible, but I don't know much about the other guns. I've always played with a tippmann, so i'm looking up reviews and such for the other guns, but I did fire my friend's new autococker and really liked the way it feels.

Just get a marker that will do well in speedball. All speedball markers can be used succesfully in scenario/woodsball.

You'd probably want a Spyder Imagine then. Autocockers are hard to understand at first.

dont buy a spyder man cause u'll end up wanting to upgrade to another gun soon after if u r serious about playing paintball. I started with a spyder electra and spent $300 upgrading, which was fun but a waste of $$$. Now I just got a fully upped 2k2 intimidator and i love it ($390). I wish i had never wasted money on a spyder. And dont buy a tippmann, too heavy for speedball.
Get an ion. Great for woodsball and speedball, and not too expensive. And forget about CO2, get an HPA tank, it will only cost u a couple of bucks to fill up, but it allows u to use better guns.
Or better yet get a used gun! Dont buy new, its a waste of money. Look on Ebay! TRUST ME!!!

What kind of air is used in HPA tanks...and about how much does it cost to fill up. I'd have to find a place around here to get my tank filled if I went that route. Right now, one of the guys that i'm living with gets free CO2, which is pretty great.
