yoo i went paintballing a few years back a few times but everytime i went i just rented a gun from the place i went too and i just bought a gun off of ebay a "tippmann 98 custom" first thing im just wondering if this is a good gun to get started with ??......and another question is what are some inexspensize "cheap" upgrades i can make on my gun just to make it a little better??.......what i wana do is make it a sniper rifle paintball gun so any tips would help thanks.....
yes it is a good gun for woodsball, its okay for speedball to. but as for upgrades start off with a j&j 1piece barrel(or any toher J&J barrel) it'll make your gun alot more accurate. the rest is really up to you, what all do you want to upgrade?

to tell you the truth im not sure i dont no that much about paintballin yett thats why i came on here to ask yous....lol but i noo i want a good barrell for some good acc and distance and once i start going agian i want to just practice sniper i like to just sit back and try an pick people off so really any upgrades that dont cost to much cause im on a limited amount of money since the holidays are comeing up but yeah anything that would help me progress as a sniper in paintballin?
well im proud to be the first to tell you this, a sniper in paintball is useless given every paintball gun will be getting the exact same velocity and fps, and accuracy as well. its kinda hard to explain but i'll do my best. when you are playing at a field(or any other place, woods for instance) its best to stay within the 285-300 fps(feet per second) limit meaning everyones gun will be shooting exactly the same. so after about maybe 75 yards(maybe less) you will be dead lucky to get a kill much less hit someone.the person would have to pretty much walk right up on you for you to be able to "snipe" him. and accuracy is determined by paint to bore match(meaning the size of the barrel to the paints size) given there are barrels that have batter consistency(grouping of your shots) then other barrels. my advise to you is simply to drop the whole "sniping" thing earlier on, most do eventually seeing as how its very hard to get that kill.

Not to talk you out of paintball, but if you want to be a sniper, why not look into airsoft? A sniper gun in airsoft isn't going to be cheap. I mean, it can be, but you always get what you payfor. Go look up an airsoft forum and do some reading.
Both airsoft and paintball are great, but they arn't the same animal. IMHO

Most beginning paintballers dream of being a sniper, thats no reason to look into a different sport. I guess because woodsball and "sniping" go hand in hand, with long distance shots and stuff.
Read up on some old threads in the New Player Forum, almost every new player wants to be a sniper.. but with our guidance, they quickly become educated in the physics of paintball.
