need help with first gun purchase
it seems like every time i come back from paintbaling i want a gun so bad, and i need a little advisment on what gun to get
here is some info about me:
im pretty much a noob but i am quite fast on a double trigger and quite a good shot.
i would like to get an electric gun that has a rocking trigger and i dont want to have to buy a new gun when i get better( and have it be fully auto).
i would like it too be 23 bps or higher.
my price limit is $450 for a gun and everything else(though i would not like to spend more than $400).
and also i am having trouble convincing my mom that a gun is a good idea. she thinks that just because i like playing it alot isnt a reason to buy a gun, even though i have a bunch of friends i could play with.
plz give advice and anwser asap!
thanx

first of all ,the rocking trigger isnt all that good. and the only guns that come with it are spyders. I suggst you get either an ion or a pirahna evo to start out on and thne work your way up.

second of all.... you wont be hitting 23 bps on any gun that's less than 400, stock.
yeah, as Kenny said, the rocking trigger is illegal in tournaments. We also do not use fully automatic when you get better... we use semi or occasionally PSP ramping.
Go with:
1. Smart Parts Ion
2. Pirhana Evo
3. Spyder Imagine
4. Spyder VS2 (NOT VS3) but it's not as good of a value as the imagine
Pick one of those, they're all great beginner guns. The ion will require a little more upkeep, but by using it first you gain a little more knowledge a little quicker.

i'd definitely suggest something like an ION for you to start with. you dont need to buy anything better if you dont want to, it shoots pretty quick for what it is, and they're super easy to find parts and upgrades for which is always a plus just in case you're looking to spend a little cash on your marker once and a while when you have nothing better to do with your cash.

Agreed on the ion in that price range. You could procure, quite easily, an ion, a halo, a 4500psi HPA tank, and a feedneck and trigger for the ion used, in that price range, and might be able to get more than that with it.

Since this seems to be your first time buying stuff you will also need to factor in the price of a good mask which will be about $50-$70. I agree with txaggie's recommendation to get the ion halo and 4500psi tank. however this will add up to be around $450-$500 which is a little over your budget. Two ways around this are to buy used equipment which can be hard to do for a begginer because you have to know a little bit about the resale values of guns and how to spot duds. The other option is to buy a less expensive tank such as a 3000psi aluminum tank or a cheaper hopper like a revvy. As to your requirements the full auto mode is almost useless, the reason companies use it is that it is good marketing ploy and it will have no real value but to show off to your friends.

if you like, and can afford the pmr i'd get that over the ION... less people have them right now, and i've heard nothing but good things about them so far.

if you get a PMR that would take up about 400 of your budget. Then add 50 for a mask. 75 for a tank. 50 for a hopper.

VS3 is an extremely overpriced version of a spyder. If you want to spend that on a STBB gun, get an imagine, convert it to lp, and put in a t-board. Yould come out with a superior gun.
The pmr would be the best of the three you listed, and would be a good enough gun you would never HAVE to upgrade, from there it would be about "I want it".
As to the arisoft mask, probably not. There is a huge difference in the safety ratings for airsoft masks and paintball masks. Put up some pics, but in all probability you would be better off with a 20$ BE mask from walmart than an airsoft mask.

dont know on the site, i dont buy new online often.
For a hopper illd recommend either a Halo, Pulse loader, or vlocity.
I recommend a 4500psi tank of at least 68ci.
The redz ion is just a modified ion i beleive. You can do the same thing to a regular ion.

Ive owned one new paintball gun in my life, and it was the BE pump i bought from walmart 11years ago. Used is generaly fine, especialy on newer guns.Your going to get a much better deal buying used than paying for new. I've done buisness with e-paintball.com(wich is actualy a shop local to me)and from actionvillage.com.

more input
i agree with almost all the feedback you're getting so far..
if budget-restricted: go for used markers and accessories (upside -definitly lowered prices/ downside - you run the risk of getting a lemon, unless you buy from someone who's really reputable)
If you have the potential to save up and increase your budget to $100-$200 dollars in the next 1 to 2-months then it might be worth delaying your purchase so you can get a better mid-level priced marker.
choice of marker: almost everyone has their own personal favorite. you should spend time trying different markers and dial-in on one that will meet your personal preferences. also consider your type of play -- woodsball (and milsim) as against speedball. And one thing I don't hear too many player's looking into is your level of mechanical proficiency. Make sure you get a marker that will be at par with your mech-skills as marker maintenance is essential to good gameplay.
IMHO -- the Smart Parts ION is worth considering. I guess that's the reason why you hear a lot of people saying that the ION saved the paintball industry and hobby in general. I know I should have gotten one but I went old-school and got something else but I'm saving up for a back-up marker and the ION is in surely in the top-3 of what I will get.
accessories -- definitely don't save on a good mask/goggle system. i believe this is the backbone of your whole paintball set-up and you can never put a $-value on safety. A non-fogging, wide field of vision type of goggles are definitely points of consideration.
Hope this gives you some more pointers..

^^^
I would probably take the PMR over the ion, but the ion is a decent gun. IMO the PMR has alot of little things that are already right on it that the ion needs to have added, but that IMO. For the budget, the ion has all but destroyed the wrath/bko market, and has made buying the upper end spyders pointless in ts entirity. Eventualy im going to get my hands on an ion and a palmer stab, and test how well it will realy work on CO2 myself, were i can control the variables.
