Question New to the game and i need help

I am new to the sport of paintballing and i have a few questions:

1-I'm getting a Tippman 98 and i like sniping, will a 20"barrel really increase range and accuracy, if not, what will

2-I'm getting a 20oz. CO2 tank, how many shots will that give me on average

3-What kind of feed system should i get?

Thx

first off, there is no, and i mean absolutly no sniping in paintball

there is being stealthy and hidden, in woods, but no sniping

nothing above a 14" is going to increase range, or accuracy

the best thing you can do to help keep your accuracy consistant is to get a expansion chamber kit, the first time you do need a kit because the t98 needs a special metal fitting to move the input from the air tube to the front handle, but its highly reccomended

also a good regulator that can run on c02 is a good idea, a palmers stabalizer is one of the best you can buy

a good upgrade is a decently priced electric hopper, this will keep you from breaking paintballs (punk_pntballer has an eggy for around $45 OBO)

get a barrel condom, you will need one, no matter what, this keeps you and other players safe while off the feild and is required 90% of the time, the other 10% they will let you use a plug, but not often

Get a squeegee, and some battle swabs, some good gun oil, hops #9 is a good firearms lube that is safe on the 0-rings of your gun and will not gum up or freeze

if you want an upgrade in the future, i highly recomend a response trigger, maybe a drop, or an on/off

i reccomend the J&J ceramic 14" barrel, it will make you extremely happy

a 20oz will give you about 1100 shots, differentiating depending on tempurature and how well the fill operator fills it, however the 20oz will need to be rehydrotested every 3-4 years or so, and that costs as much as the tank, i recomend a 16 oz c02 tank, this will give you plenty of shots to lasta full round

Ice is pretty close.

Most definatly look into an electronic hopper over the cyclone feed system. Far superior.

A 20" barrel is going to damage accuracy and consistancy, plus will be so unwieldy it will be a disadvantage in 99% of the fire situations you find yourself in. ESPECIALY with a tippman, wich is a long gun in the first place, dont go over 14". You will regret the longer barrel. Look into a kit like a freak that will work properly with your next gun. Avoid the flatline like the plague, its a gimmick designed to lure kids who want to be the "L33t SnIp3Rz" into spending money. It adds 20-30 feet to your range, but the ball is moving so slowly ive reached out and caught them before without breaking one.....

A plamer reg is always a good idea, in honesty expansion chambers are next to useless.

Have you played paintball at all, and if so how much? It sounds like your the typical new guy that has played games like COD2 that glorify "sniping" as some mystical unseen will that never gets hurt, and always gets his man. REAL sniping does not work that way, and in paintball the ranges are so limited(because of the gun) you will never be in a position to properly position and fire without getting lit up in the process. Please go out and play with your gun in stock format for a while before you start wasting money on "sniper" gear, youll learn a quick lesson ..........

i agree with theses guys, sniping doesnt exist in paintball the way people think of sniping, Ice98 had a good recomendation on the barrel, i have a j&j 10" on my impulse, for the price it does pretty well, personally i think a 14" is a little long for a 98c the gun itself is already long, plus without a drop forward your gunna be looking at around 2.5 to 3 feet your carrying around, id recomend a drop forward and stick with the 20 oz co2, the price diference between a 16 and a 20 is not huge so you can get more shots out of the 20 for only like $4 more, if your looking for a hopper, basically any agitator out there can keep up with a 98 in stock form,

however personally id go with the tippman a5 over the 98c, the reason is that tons of feilds are using the 98c for a rental marker (some are switching to the A5)and its a good idea to have somthing above the rental marker at your local feild if you wana be competitive, also the A5 has the cyclone feed so there is no reason to get a hopper, you can put that money towards other things (like a drop forward or better barrel)

any standard hopper will

but i recomend at least getting some sort of agitated hopper, the blowback agitated hoppers go pretty nicely with the RT, and they are pretty cheap

My tippy has:

polished internals (very good idea)
Expansion chamber
Response Trigger
Pnumatic hopper
dye boomstick 14"
All metal inner workings
lighter hammer spring
clicky pen spring in the RT
removed regular trigger spring
double trigger
dye sticky 3's (everyone should own a pair)

also, i was going to add a palmers stab and a drop forward, i never got all the fittings/hose that i needed so the stab ended up getting lost "cry" it was only $50!!!

so yeah, those are some good mods

my friends gun has RT, exp chamber, palmers stab
