help! im new
ok..im looking at upgrades. i will we buying a kingman spyder xtra 2006
i have some questions.
- when will the 07 model be coming out?
- if i decide to upgrade the barrel, what size should it be? (.679, .682, .684,.etc..) and what length should the barrel be? (12 inches, 14 inches, 16 inches.etc..)
- and is the kingman spyder xtra a good choice?
i will be only using it to be shooting around, maybe have some paintball wars here and there but no too many.
thanks

id get a used or new tippman between 45- 120 bucks... if its just gonna be occtionaly.. you dont need a really nice gun and spyders can be problamatic... so id just go with a tippman you wont have any problams.
price range?
P.S " spyders chop alot just from personal expirence... i dont know if anyone else had this problam but i sure did when i had a spyder...

The 07 model might be out soon, I haven't heard anything.
The issue is...it'll be the same gun, it just might look different on the outside(Curves and colors). It'll cost more and perform the same.
If I had to buy a barrel, I'd get a 14" and probably a .687 or .689. I never really looked at bore size unless I was getting a kit, which probably won't be worth the money in this case.
Honestly I suggest trying the stock barrel and upgrading if you find it to be lacking in accuracy.

QFT.
you're better off getting a spyder Imagine. they're dirt cheap and are exactly the same as the one you want.

the problem with getting cheap guns is that you have to be careful or the paintballs you use will chop.
unless of course it is an anti-chop cheap gun lol
im not a big fan of spyder but they have had a bad reputation amoung my friends. They all HAD spyders but wanted to upgrade and wasted the money they spent just to say I HAV A GUN YAY.
i think that the best starter gun ever is a tippman.
easy to operate, not much cleaning, no need to take the gun apart (mostly)
it just works.
if you do get a tipp tho wait till fall.
i work with this guy in ohio at a store that said the price will drop now that more parks are using them and because they are getting old.

well first to answer proto's question many people buy the A5 then return it or sell it if they can. I heard that the special ball feed it has makes a lot of noise and the only good one that you can buy for A5 is te one with the reaction trigger which is i think 260$.
to answer the brand question, here is a site that will give you more info on tippmans and if you dont like those you can just click on paintball guns and it will show you all brands.
Tippmann ACT (Anti-Chop Technology) Paintball Guns
if you think tho that 150$ is too much and just want to get a gun so that you dont have to rent, you will probably have a worse gun than those renting from the park.
the tippman 98 custom is a good marker because it will allow you to be matched with other people at park and if you go a certain number of times, it will pay off the gun in which you would hav paid to rent one.

The Strykers will perform about the same as the spyders. They are based around the same platform, so they will be very very similar in how they shoot.
I would stick with a spyder, they are more known and reliable. Not sure about the stryker brands.

the better paint has thicker fill and are not deformed like the cheaper brands. Often, cheap brands you buy are what we call "seconds paint" It's the stuff that doesn't quite make it into the good stuff, but it ca still be used and sold as "seconds" paint. It's a big hit and miss. somethimes it's a good case, sometimes it's not.
If you really must buy walmart paint, open op all the boxes and inspect the paint first. make sure it's not got broken paint int eh bag, make sure it's not dimpled or deformed, and make sure the shells are still firm and not squishy. the employees don't care if you open it up. I've done it before(in desperation) with 3 different employees walking by me. I managed to find 2 good bags of paint in 8 boxes, so good luck.

-Any marker will chop paint, most markers have eyes these days(detect paint to help stop chops..to put it shortly)
- spyders are great markers. Just don't spend money on upgrading them (except a barrel..stock one suck)

what's wrong with an A-5? have you ever shot one before? A-5's are great markers, they shoot fast and thier hopper is nice. sorta annoying that it sits on the side of the marker. But it's still a great marker.

that $150 tippman will work even after you die. They're like tanks, they can take so much abuse and mis-treatment. This is why it's a god marker for starting players or casual players.

so people take them back a lot? I've never heard of that happening and I've been around since before they came out. For $260 though, i can think of a better marker fro speedball..but for woodsball, I'd take the A-5

they're all built the same as any spyder, making them good markers. I say go with a quality name like spyder, but if you can't afford that the other brands will suit you fine.

If your only gonna be playing occasionally then dont buy the Spyder Xtra, plus they screw up very easily unless you get a high dollar Kingman. I suggest a used or new Tippmann 98. Models if your not looking to customize it much, and a Custom if your looking to sup that baby up.
A new or used Tippmann 98 can run you anywhere from 20-150 bucks depending on where you get and what it has on it already. DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY! You can go to Walmart and get a Custom 98 Package for $139.95
Assuming you get a Model 98 you cant do much customizing with it other than a new barrel a stock, and response trigger, but I have occassionally seen E-Grips for them. These up grades exclude air components.
A Custom 98 on the other hand. Well, you can pretty much get anything you want for it if you got a fair pay check.
As for barrel upgrades, try not to get anything over 14 inches, it gets in the way and most of the time unless your lucky, it decreases velocity and range but greatly increases accuracy. You can get a 14 inch barrel for a 98 at just under 40 bucks.
Also, if you end up buying a Tippmann try to get one with an ACS system. Thats Anti-Chop System, you break 57% less balls with this.
Good luck and have fun!

you're ignorant. If you think higher prices spyders are better, you've fallen into their marketing scheme. The only difference between any spyder is the milling and color(except the vs series..those ARE actually better). All your stuff about a tippman is correct, but you're so ignorant about spyders that it makes me sick.
Seeing how all spyders are the same, my suggestion is to pick up a used spyder imagine. you can get them for about $80.
