Spyder Xtra?

I'm pretty new to paintball. I've played a couple times on speedball courses(and that's what I plan on doing for a while). I'm trying to decide on what marker to get(of course, you already knew that when you started reading this post). I've heard that the Spyder Xtra is a good starter one. I've read some good reviews on it, but none of them ever said if it was good for speedball. Would you guys say it's good for speedball, and are any of those in the "Look no further for a gun", or whatever it says, better(or would you recommend one of them over the xtra. DONT LIKE TIPPMANS)?

I'm also trying to decide on a good starter mask. I've also heard that the Proto Switch EL is a good, cheap, starter mask(haven't heard much about how much it fogs, or cleans though). I also wear glasses, and the few times I have played, I played with them off. Do you think this mask would have enough room for my glasses to fit in?(if you don't think they do, please recommend a mask that is under $50 that might).

The Spyder Xtra would be allright but if I were you I would get an electric spyder/spyder clone. You will want the speed of an electro after a few games with the Xtra.

For a mask the Switch is a average choice. For other options look into a used Profiler or Invision.

i just got rid of an Xtra i bought for my wife. it was a good gun but it definatly lacked a good rate of fire.. go with an electric like pilot acs, electra, imagine/shutter or one of the VS series. I would stay away from the vs3 though.

first off, i have heard a lot of arguments that it isnt touney legal, not like i play in touneys, but its better to be on the safe side. also it promotes bad form for walking the trigger. because of the width of the pivot point your fingers have to be a lot further apart, you would be more comfortble useing your index and ring finger instead of index and middle. i have seen people slide their finger accross the pivot point and get a fast rate of fire.it simply isnt worth it. especially if you get into it and want to upgrade your gun, there is a reason spyder is the only one with a rickin trigger, cause they arent worth having with mid-high end guns. all i have are spyders (due to HPA filling problems) and i wont even consider useing it. so yeah, i strongly discourage the rocking trigger. if you really want a VS3 body than buy the VS3 and the VS2 and swap the triggers and sell the vs2 with a rocking trigger upgrade.
