Ion Vs A5
Looking to get one of these, leaning towards the A-5.. Going to mainly be doing woods, but will also do some speed to mix it up. Is the A-5 OK for speed? Or is the Ion a better overall gun?
thanks

Well, you are talking about two totally different animals here. The Ion is small, fast, and light, and the A-5 is large, but durable. The A-5 is just about the worst speedball gun that you can possibly buy, but it is good for woodsball. The Ion is a better overall gun, but will be mire finnicky. If you do not want the Ion, go for the Tippmann 98c, it will be a more versatile gun, and with a Halo or other electrinic hopper, will be just as fast as the cyclone feed.

Thanks for the replies. I'm basically looking for a gun that's able to do both, so that if I decided to play a little bit more speedball I'd have a gun that could at least be OK.
Basically wanted something that's solid in both fields.

Then definitely get the Ion. The Ion will be more than okay for speedball, it is great for speedball. Get the Ion.

I agree, the Ion is an amazing gun. My friend has one, and he beat 4 of us in woodsball, 2 with 98customs and 2 tac-5s, all upgraded to be fast an accurate.

Okay... Speedball guns are considered speedball guns because they're fast. Woodsball guns are called woodsball guns because they are catered to teenagers who play in the woods. They are sucked in easily by hype, and are broke, so they want to buy whatever they can afford.
A speedball gun can compete in both the speedball field OR the woodsball field. A woodsball gun is only good in the woods.

Yo Alpha haven't talked to you in some time, but what Alpha is talking about is very true about gun types. I would have to say go with the Ion for the lighter package which you will like more in longer woodsball games plus being lighter for speedball is always nice.

Also depends on your budget. Do you have HPA? If not, are you willing to spend that extra money to get a tank? The cheaper HPA tanks will go for around $50, but they are heavy. The better and lighter ones sell for 150+ new. Also, do you have an electronic hopper? If not, are you willing to spend THAT extra money? Those can be pricey also, for a haloB/empireB they go for around 110 new. You could also look into the viewloader evlution2 or evlution3.
If you've got the money, go for the ion.

Alright well why would you run co2 in the A-5 even if he got that its a waste co2 costs alot more and the comp air tank will pay for it self over time.

um....most fields are CO2 all day,and if your playing off-site, CO2 is much easier to run.
Look at it this way, an HPA DIY fill system(cause one tank isn't gonna hack it, plus it's five to fill one at a scuba shop)is going to cost, at the cheapest, well over 200$(with a cheap tank, scuba tank and fill station). Grabbing a couple of 20 oz tanks and going is the best way to go on that if possible.
on-site, it just doesnt matter if the tank can last you through the game.
With an A-5, go A/S Co2 and save your money.
