CO2 Huh!?
I'm a total noob to paintball and anything related in general... however I got my hands on a Spyder Pilot ACS from a friend and went and bought a 12OZ tank... when I screw the tank in, nothing happens? I turn the gun on, pull the trigger (after cocking) nothing happens? Do you have to fill the tanks before you can do anything? They aren't prefilled? Do I have to do something special to use the tank for the first time?

The tanks almost always come empty if you bought them from a store. Just try pushing the little pin in on the top of the tank, and if you can press it in, and nothing comes out, it's empty.

Er...you kinda did. You are supposed to get a free first fill (if you bought it at a store). At least that's how it works around here. Even if you buy something that costs like $5 to fill, they should do it for free (if you bought it from them). Also, don't go buying crappy paintballs (figured this is important too). Toss them in the air and catch them, and if any break, put them away (they'll just kill your barrel), and very quickly at that, so nobody sees. And then, go on to another bag or another type.

hmm... well I'm going paintballing today and they have free refills included with the field fee, so its fine, but thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind, I didn't buy from a proshop though, a chain sproting goods store, Dick's Sporting Goods (Quite a crappy paintball selection, more for airsoft)
Generally speaking are field balls really bad? Because I didn't have enough cash at hand to buy balls... so should I stop by a proshop on the way to the field and pick up some quality balls?
What price range do you think would be good for a stock Spyder Pilot ACS barreL?

some good barrels for decent prices would be these:
Smart Parts Progressive
Smart parts Teardrop (essentially the same as the progressive)
J&J Ceramic Barrel
Custom Products 1-piece barrel
all will be fairly cheap, and be good barrels. Oh and get it in 12" or 14".
and yeah most big places like dick's won't fill your tank when you buy it, that's just common courtesy of most shops.

hmmm, I'd get the J&J Ceramic, but I've heard it chips and break easily... I generally play more woodsball (occasionally speed) and don't want my barrel broken on the first few times I use it..
Looks like the Smart Parts Progressive gets good reviews, I guess i'll order that in the future, thanks a bunch
