Pilot ACS Upgrades (and in General)
As I've mentioned in a few posts now, I'm pretty much a total noob to paintball and I need some help upgrading my gun...
I'd like to try and buy universal upgrades that will work with pretty much any gun, although anything is fine because I don't think I'll be getting anything new for atleast a year
I have a totally stock Spyder Pilot ACS new and unused (until 1:30 today) with nothing special added or changed
What should I do to it? (Prioritized list please?)
Please post prices and such if you can, and in total noob terms so I understand, and can search for anything
Thanks alot! These forums are great!

Universal upgrade kits don't exist.
But here's what I recommend doing.
#1. Play more, until you notice something you don't like.
#2. Play a little more.
#3. If you are still sure there is something you don't like about the gun, look for a part that will replace or fix that. Look at the cost and decide if you really don't like it that much.
That way you won't be throwing away money on things you don't need, or worse- Things that don't do anything.

Hmm ok thanks, sounds like a good idea :P should've thought of that myself
Expanding the thread,
I've noticed that my shots don't go in the same area consistantly, such as when shooting out a tower (castle) in a game, I can clearly see my shots go left and right within a few inches of each other... Is that normal? Would getting a longer barrel fix that? I'm thinking of getting a Smart Parts Progressive 12 or 14 inch barrel... Is the bolt at fault? Air? (I'm using C02, 12 oz's)
Thanks a bunch!
Also, does anyone know if pro shops or fields sell the little velocity locking screw thing? I beleive it uses a small allen wrench to turn and lock the velocity adjuster (Spyder Pilot Pro ACS) because I was playing today, and I saw paint on the velocity adjuster... (how?) and the little screw was nowhere to be seen... Is there some makeshift way to fix it?

Find a nice barrel any where from like 30 to 150 for one or a kit. Anything over 16 inches for a barrel is waste and don't let any one tell you different. I would try for about a 12 inche barrel. Also make sure your barrel threading is a spyder threading cause spyde does have guns that are threaded the same as autocockers

A few inches apart? That's not too bad. But a better (not necessarily longer) barrel should tighten up the grouping a little. the 12 or 14 you were looking at are the popular lengths to have.
I wouldn't worry about the bolt or the air supply. Bolt upgrades are pretty unnoticed most of the time.
Like snipermonkey said though, make sure any barrel you decide to pick up is Spyder threaded. Don't get a barrel with the wrong threads and an adapter for it.

I thought by universal upgrades, you meant ones that you could use when you got a new gun. If so, that is an excellent decision and one that i would highly recomend. For them, I'd suggest a hopper(halo), tank(pure energy or crossfire, 68ci 4500psi or 45ci 4500psi), mask(proflex or profilers). You could also pick up a reg, but that would depend on the input pressure of your current gun versus the gun you want to upgrade to(check manuals).
If thats not what you meant, then id still suggest those upgrades(besides the reg, which is just icing on the cake and probably not cost efficent), and maybe a new barrel(smart parts, J&J)
