I'm about to buy some paintball gear and wanted some advice from seasoned vets.

1) It seems like the Tippman 98 Custom is the way to go due to price, durability, and customizability, right?

2) I've heard that masks are the most important item for a paintballer. What do you recommend?

3) How about air? Does it matter much if I used compressed, co2 or nitrogren? If I play off a real field, can I buy a compressed air cannister, fill it up at the gas station, and use that?

1) yes they are great beginner markers. If you plan on playing speedball though, look for an electronic piranha/spyder or an ion.

2) That is a tough question. I prefer the Dye Invision series, but others love proflex's.

There is NO "Best" Mask

3) Compressed air is the best choice. It is cleaner, and more consistant. Not only that, but I think it doesnt age your marker as fast as CO2 can.

tippmann 98c + gravity hopper + 20 oz + v-force pro vantage mask (not the field version tho cuz they suck) will be a nice cheap set up which you will enjoy playing with. If you plan on doing long games i suggest a pod pack. Maybe something with a nice tight belt not a cheapo if u wanna stay quiet in the woods if your a woodsballer.

1. Yes, the 98 custom is a great beginner gun, and it is pretty customizable. Good to the new player because almost never anything goes wrong with it. If something does it's just probably as simple as an o-ring.

2. I would agree with this statement, many people like the dye invisions, but I perfer the V-Force Profilers. If you have a local proshop or friends with these masks, ask if you can try them on, and see which is best.

3. Compressed air doesn't reak as much havoc as Co2 but a 98c can deal with CO2 fine, it's not a huge deal.

everything has preety much been awnsered, the mask you dont want to go cheap on so i would recommend anywhere from $40-$70 mask and CO2 is just fine, its cheaper and easier to get.
