Red dot sight or scope useful?
I am looking to buy a marker and I want to know if I will want a sniper scope or red dot sight or if a normal sight will be sufficient.
Are red dot sights a useful improvement over a normal sight?
And sniper scopes are they just for show or are they useful for longer range combat?

Don't listen to anyone who tries to convince you that scopes do anything in paintball, they don't. Paintballs, unlike bullets, don't fly perfectly straight, making scopes useless. If your into Milsim and want a scope for that reason go for it, but don't expect it to help your game. Good luck and have fun in the wonderful world of Paintball!!!

You cant rally use any scope or sighting thinger ma jig to aim. The best way to do it is to have a muscle memory from shooting a lot, and also looking down the side of your gun.
If you wanted to go all out, the only thing a scope is good for is seeing things far away during a scenario that you otherwise wouldnt be able to so, but i wouldnt use it for aiming. Alsin maybe a night vision would work, if your into night games they are pretty helpful.

and if anyone tells you a paintball sniper exists...they lie...all paintballs fly the same distance unless you got a flat line then you got like an extra 10 feet....lol...goodluck with you paintball journey...

^^^Lol. The extra distance a flatline gives you is worthless, because a ball wont break in that area. Plus the flatline slows the ball down so you can actually doge them, or the balls will bounce. Plus that flatline has a bad grouping.

One thing your going to find on a regular basis man, "woodsball" guns are no better in the woods than a marker setup in the conventional method. HOWEVER, if you take these "woodsball" machines out of the woods......well I liken it to shooting skeet with a 7mm magnum.....will work, but not well.
ESPECIALLY on your first gun, do not buy into the "woodsball vs. speedball" crap. It's the same thing, with nearly identical requirements. Now obviously if I was playing solely in the woods I might want camo patterned clothing, maybe even some cammo patterned material(or anno) on my gun, but the milsim garbage is just that-garbage.
I watch kids make that mistake every weekend at work. They're miserable because they bought into the "sniper" thing, or got scared of playing on a faster course and think the woods are going to get them shot at farther range/less often. Hate to tell you this, the worst whelps I've ever picked up were in a game being played out in the woods. I got right on top of a guy before either one of us saw the other. only time I've ever bled from a gun shooting decent paint at a legally chronoed speed.

Red Dot sight, is not a scope. You don't try to "sniper" with it. Let's get that out of the way.
I use a red, dot. For me it works. This is mostly a speedball forum, no matter what you will get negative feedback on these type of questions.
It's personal preference. I have one, for me it works, I like it.
It boils down to personal preference.

sighting with a red dot is really no different than just sighting down the end of your barrel. Once you're used to your marker and know its groupings at different ranges you should beable to use the red dot as a rough guide.
A scope though is useless. If you can even see through it with a mask on you're not going to get any benefit from magification. Nevermind that you will get tunnel vision and welts on your back but you can't shoot farther than you can see well

What u say is true, but if your using a scope for magnification why not just use Binoculars?

because with a scope, you dont' have to lower your marker and pull the binocluars out. this is about the onyl pratical reason I can see fro a scope on a paintball marker.

Exactly. The last thing you need is to have to make extra movements to get your weapon on target when faced with an "Oh ****" moment.
It's alot easier to lift your head than it is to drop your marker, bring the binoculars to your eyes, then lower the binoculars and bring the marker back up on target. It's faster and less cumbersome with a scope.
