Just getting started

I just did paintball for the 1st time last Saturday for my bachelor party and had a blast. I want to get my own gun and found one locally for $100. It's a tippman custom 98 with some extras. It's only been used once, so i fugured its a pretty good deal.

I want to do some upgrades, where do you suggest i start? I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend, just looking for some inexpensive upgrades. i definately want to get the double trigger. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Here is the package I plan on getting.

that's a really good deal for $100

getting a double trigger will slightly increase your speed but i'd save the money and stay with the single trigger.

If it's speed you want, look into a spyder imagine, they've got electronic trigger frames that allow faster shooting and a MUCH lighter trigger pull (shameless plug: I've got one for sale)

Barrel, I can’t stress this enough. Find a kick ass barrel and you’ll be good to go. Double trigger helps on speed, this is true, but what good is speed when you can’t hit anything ? Accuracy before speed my friend. The 98 is a really good marker for new comers.

$70 shipped. for another $25, I'll throw in a J&J ceramics barrel with minimal wear.(J&J barrels are amazing barrels. makes my spyder so much more acurate compared to the stock barrel)

For the 98 Custom there are several barrels available for around $30 - $50 depending on what you want to spend. CP, J&J, and Smart Parts are good barrels to look at. As suggested before, a good barrel should be your first upgrade. Another performance upgrade to consider would be an agitating or force-fed loader.

wasn't that when they had the impy and nerve?
those were amazing markers, but the shocker blows IMO and the ion is too much of a cliché new player marker for me to respect.
