You have to specify. Are you talking about the 3 best guns period, or the 3 best starter guns.

Of course the answer to all your dreams is an Automag! Really!
Seriously though, you have to understand -- you are asking a question like "what are the best cars out there?" and not giving us the features you want.
Reliability? Cost? Speed? Ease of maintenance? We need more info to be able to give you a reliable answer.

Besides, its in the wrong section, you'll wanna post this sorta thing in the New Players section, just FYI for the future, now if your just getting into it, im going to assume your playing in the woods, because thats where most people start out. i dont know your price range, but i would recommend
1_ Tippmann 98 custom, you cant go wrong here, cheap, durable, easy maintenence, and very coustomizeable, an all around good gun.
2_ Some sort of spyder or Piranah, they are all good starter guns, and here you can pick and choose between a mechanical (semi-auto) or an electro (multiple fire settings) and there is a wide price variance
3_ at the higher cost end for getting started the Tippmann A-5 this bad boy has all of tippmann's famous durability, and reliability, coupled with a greater amount of fire power, also very coustomizeable
so check those three out and you should be set to go!

he should know better than to walk in and ask what the best marker ever is. there's very few things in life you can ask that about and get a straight answer

Sry for that bad joke, I'll be more friendly now.
There's surely better brands than other, but you have to ask yourself : how am I ready to spend for a first marker.
And here's my answer : not much ! The reason is simple : you don't even know what type of paintball you like, you don't even know if you'll be interested next year. So why would you spend 500 $ and more ?
Here's my advice : Pick a basic mech spyder (Sonix or Xtra), get a 20oz Co2 tank, a Vforce Vantage mask, and you have a complete kit, really realiable, easy to use, and pretty cheap.
Sonix = 65$ (all price are taken from Paintball, Skateboard, Airsoft, Apparel and Snowboard Gear at ActionVillage.com)
20 oz Co2 tank = 14$
Vforce vantage = 25$
Total, 105$, pretty cheap, and you're ready to go.

Do not jest of the lord thy automag, nor his creator and holiness Tom Kaye!
(wanted to use a slightly different quote than that, but I'm not sure how PC I'm supposed to keep it up here anymore....might have offended some of our Islamic friends...)

I love automags... all my mech markers are automags (well except for 1 palmer's blazer)...
I wasn't really kidding about the automag being one of the best mech markers out there. They are easy to maintain, indestructible, and will last forever.
Just wait until I get my pnuemagged Stormwalk Dallara x-mag all done.. it will look so sweet!!!!
