I'm looking for a new gun soon...
I'm looking for a new gun soon...maybe in a week or two and I'm not too sure what to get or what upgrades for it, and who better then to ask the good ol players of paintball. I've had a Spyder Sonix and a Spyder pilot ACS, but I dont know where i should go next. I play a woodsball alot and scenario but never tried speedball. I'm not sure which gun to get, i was thinking maybe the VS3 or VS2 but maybe the MR2 or MR3...i dont know...i've been paintballing for a few months and don't know if i should get one of those guns yet...maybe stick to the pilot... Iunno :/

Well, for I almost always played woods, but I joined a paintball team at school, passed try outs (w00t) and there gathering up a few players like only 5 and some of the kids had ions and i was thinking my little ol' pilot my not compete so well. I Know were gonna play alot of speedball soon so I'm thinking im gonna be drifting more towards speedball. Can the pilot kinda compete with a ion? I got a egg3, Xcel barrel, java feedneck, and im thinking bout getting a dye stickie grip.

well
im not trying to sell you my gun or anything unless you want it but
A pilot will not even come close to keeping up with an ion. And if you are planning on going into tournaments with this team IONS will not keep up with all the players out there.
if you are serious about speedball i would consider a PMR or a ion
PMR is the proto matrix rail. it will keep up with ALL the high end markers. They may not be as good as some of the other guns like the egos and angels. but based on where you are at in speed ball an ion or a PMR will be a good choice.

How much do you want to spend : Ions are good, but are a bit hard to maintain IMO. That's why a got a VS2.

I do not agree here, because it's most about the player, not the marker.Pilot are nice, but they kick alot. A VS2 will perform almost like an Ion, is cheaper and it's easier to maintain. Sure it kick a bit more (I shot both and it is hard to make the difference), but it is a really nice marker.
Check in my sig : there's alot infos about spyders VS1 and VS2.
If you have to stay with CO2, then check for a VS1, if you can afford HPA, then go with a VS2.

will what work for what?
and ions, not that hard to maintain, its more hoe lazy you are then how hard it is.
and with ions or the PMR you will need to shoot compresed hair

I knew I'd eventually have to get Compressed air...:/ its not that much is it? Does the Ion need Compressed Air or is it just recommended? And What kind of trigger for the Ion should I get? I head the stock trigger isn't too good? I bet theres a sticky on this somewhere...

technically, any marker can run off of co2. BUT you need at least two Palmer's stabilizers(and those cost about the price of a HPA tank each)
you can find air tanks from $50 up. the cheap ones will be made of metal and will be MUCH heavier.
you bet there's a sticky

If you want to be taking care and of your gun get a ion if not get a vs2. But i think its recommended to use hpa C02 messes up the guns.

Not going into the VS2/CO2 argument.....I'm tired of it.
Hood- you need to take care of a VS2 just as much as you need to take care of an ion. The maintenance is a bit different in it's nature, but is still mandatory for continued performance.
The VS2 is a superior gun to the ion for the value. The gun will fire just as quickly, is probably a tad more efficient, is a much..... well let's say "less prone to catastrophic failure"....design, and is less expensive. The only REAL drawback of the VS2 design is the regulator. It's a tad on the shisty side, I would definatly look into a good reg as my first post-gun purchase.....
As far as proto1717's comment goes....I disagree. The VS2 or ION are more than capable of firing at the boligatory "10-15bps" number that "speedballers" value so highly. The gun has a form of basic ramping as well if I'm not mistaken. While I would PREFER a nicer gun if I was going into a tourny, I would not consider myself that far "outclassed" in the situation with a VS2 spyder.....
That's my opinion. Opinions in this sport are like buttholes....everyone has them, most stink. Take mine for what you want, I offer it to you after 12 years in the sport.
