I'd only buy a barrel for it. Save up for a better marker, hopper, or HPA tank.

I wouldnt go off pouring much money into it. If even any. Like Ion said, save up for a better marker. And im not too sure about the stock but I am sure that it wouldnt fit a Icon and a A5 if thats what your asking unless its for spyder then im not sure. Probably since its a clone.

QFT, don't spend any on it other than a bnarrel. Save for an Ion, they're very nice, better than any A-5.

lol thanks.
Myabe youcould save for a PMR or SLG, They shoot just as nice if not nicer than an ION and are way easier to maintain IMO. But an Ion is cheaper and shoots nice and is a HELL OF ALOT LIGHTER than any spyder/clone or Tippmann Mrakers, along with poth Protos. If you get an Ion, get Virtue or APE board for it deff!

Im not flaming or anything but lets get this straight, the ION is not the BEST gun, infact its not even close to the best, nore is A-5. But the ION is not for WOODSBALL and the A5 IS NOT FOR SPEEDBALL, its as simple as that. If he wants a speedball gun maybe he doesnt want an ion, maybe he wants a more simple gun such as the VS2. Maybe he doesn't like how the ions looks. ONE MORE THING. WE (PBF and People) Can not tell you what you want. You decide for yourself on what you want.
EDIT: hit pbreview and check out some ups and downs and then you wont have people flaming each other and/or saying "GET THE ION" "NO GET THE PMR" "NO GET THE DM7" "SCREW THE ION GET THE EGO" "F*** THE EGO GET THE ION" ect ect

im just throwing my opinion out there
i posted more on cheap guns to shoot that are speedball related.. Spyders are IMO a waste of time and money. They were fun when i was upgrading mine or when anyone does, but once they do not like it and want to move on, they cant get anything close to what they had intentionally hoped to sell it for. Icons can be used for both, but i know ppl who use A-5's for speedball too (idk why, you never know they want)
Main ? harasen, you buying for speedball or woodsball?

and ions aren't? At least with a spyder, when it does eventually break down, it's generally a fifty cent cup seal or a .05cent Oring. Instead you want him to get a gun that, while not capable of shooting any faster, and with marginally less kick, is notorious for completely falling apart out of the box? Get something simple and durable, or spring a few extra bucks and get something that will alst without sinking an inordinately large sum of money into it....
Your both wrong on the concept of "this gun is not for speedball/woodsball". The old hands have proven over and over again on the field that a speedball marker is just as good in the woods as anything proclaimed to be "woodsball". I carry an angel into the brush more confidently than I would any milsim or "woodsball" gun. You don't buy a marker to serve a specific style of play, you buy a marker and set it up in a manner that makes YOU, not the people your with, nor the so called judges of what's "cool", happy. If it means you want to play a tournament in BDU's and a marker set into a rifle stock, you go for it. If it means you want to run around the woods carrying a bright pink ego, you go for it. The important part is whether or not your going to be comfortable enough to be successful.

hey im just throwing MY opinion, so no body should be telling me IM wrong. No one is WRONG, its a matter of personall preference. I personally love my Ion, had no problems until my cousin baked the breach in the oven
Spyders are fine for beginners, they're both great for woodsball and beginner speedball. Clones of spyder SUCK tho. No offense to anyone who loves then its just MY OPINION. or if you want to spen the $$$ to make it a lp or spimmy system, that is ALWAYS fun to do. I loved doing the lp mod to my spyder so much. Now im modding the crap out of my Ion, and Will prolly move up yet again to an even better gun and up it too. I just dont like to see people fall $ wise like I have.

why would you want it?I doubt very seriously you can get any form of m-4 stock for that gun...
And Shinryu, your missing the point. You ARE wrong that the ion is a superior gun to the newest generation of kingman guns. MAYBE to the last gen like the imagine, but not to the vs series. They're more durable, better built, and have just as many features. Not to mention, they don't need the upgrades to perform to there potential, especially the VS1. With a nine dollar feedneck adapter, you have a gun that will work as a backyard CO2 beater for a kid with a gravity hopper(and won't chop), or a gun that well....Lemme put it this way, I'm old, fat, and slow, plus I can't slide because of my knee. I borrowed one last weekend and was more than competitive(I can fire it just as quickly as most of the high ends I've bought. With a little tuning work on the trigger, I'd even go so far as to say it's a very NICE pull) against guys with much higher end gear.
The whole point is, The ion was built to fill a role just above what the traditional E-spyder was, but well bellow the standard level tournament marker(which at the time was a 600$+ investment PERIOD). Now, that role no longer exists. With the advent of the mini, pmr, and fusion, The "just below high end" market has shown quality well beyond what was initially expected, and is keeping pricing competitive. That left the "just above the basic e-blowback" role to be challenged. Kingman has stepped up to bat with this latest generation dubbed the "vs". The biggest concern with the E-spyder, traditionally, was eyes. Kingman remedied that problem, and they work very well. The other concern with the classic frame was the trigger geometry, which let's face ti was terrible from the get go. The Vs1 is the step in the right direction, the two is actually quite good. Even the feedneck situation has been remedied, they now use threads and the VS2 and 3 come with a cup style neck.
And don't bring up the issue of a sear. They're is nothing inferior about the design, if anything a blowback is capable of OUT CYCLING the two popular electro pneumatic system. Even from a cost perspective, the solenoid assemblies are cheaper.
Now is the gun superior to many of the popular 500+ guns? Absolutely not, and I wouldn't pretend it. Is it the best current option in the 150-250$ price range? Unless this newest generation of ion has made a HUGE leap in quality, and the design flaws of the gun have been corrected, then yes it is.
This continued dillusion of the inferiority of the STBB design to anything ep needs to be dropped. Take a logical look at the real qualities most of us prize ina gun on a budget....

ions are far from crap, though they are not the best gun out there. I have yet to see an un dependable ion that hasn't been run on co2.my friend josh has had his for like 3 years, lubed it maybe once that is it, and still picks it up and it shoots like it did when he first got it.
if you are looking into the ion platform, get the epiphany. cheap as hell now and has everything you need to put into an ion, and is very similar to it.)
