New Gun Please Help

I have just started playing and I gues I am confused about something the air stikey really helped answer some questions for me. I have also read the stickey about which gun to get. I have been reviewing a lot of guns for the past several days and have decided to skip the dye guns and me and my team are getting the Shocker Shocktech guns. A buddy of mine said they are really good guns to get, but I wanted to ask the people here opinion. I know he knows a little about painball but you guys are the experts some of you anyway. LOL Anyway it's the shocker nxt and we have found a shop by us that sells them. Can someone help me this will be our first guns purchased and with the tag being 699 I guess I want to make sure this is the right decision. Thank You In Advance!! Also what additional can I do to keep this gun maintained or I guess I can just ask the guy we buy them from.

If you're playing under your stores sponsor, buy it from them, they may cut you a deal. Even if they do not, How are you going ot show them loyalty if you run to the internet to buy anything?

Personally, i've heard that shockers are pieces of crap. Because of that I stay far away from them. I played with a guy who had one and he said it was his third one because his other ones kept breaking.

There is a car dealership sponsoring us because one of the people on our team father is manager of one. I didn't know they had problems me or anybody on my team aren't to familiar with the different guns on the market. This was the first decent one we heard about and we ran with it. Maybe we need to do a little more research thanks for letting me know that.

You say you are new to paintball, and are having difficulty with the stickies, but are already on a team and are looking to purchase a nice and somewhat expensive marker...something about this does not sit right with me. Perhaps before you and your friends start a "team" you should practice the fundamentals, and learn to play with "lesser" markers. I learned on semi-auto before I moved up to a better marker, and the fundamentals were important. That is the way many others did it as well. A marker is only as good as the player behind it.

good job man above me, do not I repeat do not get something high-end without getting something low-end to learn the fundamentals of a marker.

you don't even need to start with a mechanical... different people have different preferences.

each gun has a certain strength to it that makes it different from all of the others. as an example the mini is small light weight and is easy to work with. that might be a good gun for a front player.

all we are really trying to say is that it is best to start out with a cheap gun like an ion ($160) or a promaster ($140) or something like that so that you can first of all find out how to use/tune higher end guns and second so that you know what you are looking for in a gun.. and in that time if you research more guns and brands you'll find what you are looking for

Well whatever you get, make sure that that you run HPA if it requires it. Its easy to say "oh I have 700 bucks, I'll buy this shocker and 100 dollars worth of upgrades" then when you throw Co2 on it you have to replace the noid.

Why do you want to spoil the fun for the rest of us? I am waiting for the inevitable "Help, Gun problems!" thread to follow purchasing the marker and the going to wal mart for the CO2 tank.

no kal, Those threads make me an angry person. If I'm going to help somebody pick out a new marker, I'm going to do it right.

I was just being sarcastic. I am as opposed to new people to the sport starting out with too much marker as many people. I believe you need to start from the beginning and LEARN. My fiance's son is doing just that...Spyder Shutter - Autococker Trilogy - My VS3 when I upgrade at the end of the year. If he can't play well with the basic markers, he has no need whatsoever for my VS3. All of the shooting modes in the world won't prevent elimination.
