It really is all personal preference. What do you feel needs to be upgraded? If you want more ramping modes the virtue board is a nice upgrade, the CP Roller trigger is also nice.

Well pretty much every upgrade makes a difference. What do you want at this point? Better acuraccy, distance, BPS, etc, etc.

get a tadao raiders board for it, then get a tech T l7 bolt. Q-lock feedneck. SP 360 QEV. then get a CP rail and on/off combination. after that you will be good on the upgrades section.

Don't get the bolt. It's not like you need the ramping modes unless you playing tourney's with the gun. That's all a board will actually DO for you on this one.
A good rail and ASA, a clamping feedneck, and a new trigger is really what you will NEED to make the gun run well. I like the CP trigger, but vastly prefer the the CCM rail/asa combo and a CCM feedneck.
A QEV is definitely not a poor choice either, the gun seems to function better(and is easier to work on) with it.
If your going to grab a new barrel, I highly recommend the Deadlywind fibur barrel. I've never meant someone who trash talks them that's actually seen one. I would also pick up the cocker threaded breach when I did it, a cocker threaded barrel would beeasier to get rid of in the end.

qev is a Quivk Exhaust Valve. it exausts the air in your gun faster causing higher recharges and ROF.

If you have $250 to put in upgrades, simply save up a little more and buy a new marker that will out perform your Ion even with $250 of stuff on it.

actionvillage.com is your best bet.
However, please take Kaz's advice on this(I was hoping someone else would say it first, I'm tired of being the one the "OMGZORZ IONZ R TEH ASUM AGGNESS!!!!11!1!" crowds target first....). For another fifty dollars you would be moving into the range of an etek ego, an older(05-06ish speed)angel, a pre-06 borg, a timmy, and several others(in fact at 250$ you could have the timmy now....). You would be MUCH better off spending money on any of those than the ion. Not only will they be better guns, you will not be sinking money into a gun you will never see on resale. You will sink 250$ into it, and maybe add 100# , more likely less, to the value of the gun.
I know you will e saying "oh I'm happy with this, i'll never sell it". Odds are- yeah you will. If it's not a matter of "i want something better", it'll be "I'm getting out of this crap". Do yourself a favor and get something different(I'm talking used obviously).

Gun or upgrades?
Can't beat the three hundred or so stock etek egos go for. Great guns IMo, and I've never been a big advocate of egos(I like it enough i called my boss to have him bring me one saturday...).
The timmy might be another good choice. A well upgraded pre-05 will go for 200-300, then you could drop on the much nicer '05 frame for 60$ or so...
This is used of course. New the SLG, pmr, or fusion.

they're all different forms of ramping. ramping is when you pul the trigger slower than your marker is shooting. The board adds more shots to what you actually are shooting.

rebound mode is when the marker shoots at the activation of the trigger switch, and the deactivation of the trigger switch.
every paintball series has a different form that is allowed. they're all there so the board can be used under the rules of any series.

no problem. I have no idea how each mode works though. I'm a fan of semi-auto only.
