Is Spyder Pilot ACS that bad?
I'm probably just going to play with some neighbors in a field around our houses...and they (neighbors) have the cheap Triumphs
I was thinking of just getting:
used ACS off of ebay,
new\used hopper,
new mask & new tank.
This might be only a once a month thing, so I don't want to dump any money into it at first.

The ACS is certainly superior to the triumph!
Give me 20 minutes with that trigger, a drill/tap, a set screw, and a new microswitch, and I'll have it as good as most microswitch trigger are.
Slap a good hopper and a feedneck on it(read good as- actual force fed, not an egg or vlforce(the eyeforce yes). Think a halo or a vlocity jr.) to stop the chopping issues, and it's about all you'll need.
A better option would be to go over to actionvillage and get a refurbished VS1. If you can't afford that the ACS is about the same thing in the long run. You might try the ottercustoms mods as well, they're all home brew mods but they work well and are very cheap...

ottersccustom shoudl have most of that info. the mian idea is that you put a few shims on either side of where the trigger pin is, to stop side to side vomement, grind the stock trigger flat, then drill and tap holes fro adjustment screws liek most aftermarker triggers have. You dont' even need a new switch, you can open yours and bend a meal tab to lighten it.

Well, thinking of going this route instead of the ACS to start (From Action Village)....the ACS I was looking at on eBay was 120$ shipped with a cheap mask..
Spyder VS1 Remanufactured Paintball Gun - Matte Blue $ 94.95
DXS Aluminum With Pin Valve CO2 Tank - 20oz $ 18.95
Smart Parts American Flag Barrel Condom $ 5.00
PaintballGear.com Double Stick Squeegee Squeegee $ 2.99
Viewloader 200 Paintball Loader - Black $ 5.99
Sub-Total: $ 127.88
Tax: $ 9.91
Free Economy Shipping: $ 0.00
Total:$ 137.79
I figure I can look around for a mask, and get a electric hopper later....
It's -8 degrees out right now, so have a few months before I could really use it....

smart thinking, but you'll need a nice, forcefed hopper like a halo in order to full yuse the potential of the vs1. other than tha,t good list.

I see a halo in that list. you could suffice with a evuliton, but don't do it. they break pretty easily.
you can pick up halos really cheap on pbnation.com.

I'm just playing around the house, so trying to justify a hopper that costs almost as much as the gun
Anything else in the last that will work fairly well? I was thinking of the ev3 smoke model.....but I guess I can just eBay a used one down the line? I'd rather get a good gun now, and upgrade the hopper later......

just dont' get a gravity feed or you'll be very unhappy. if you get a gravity feed hopper, you may as well get a mechanical spyder.

The revvy will go just fine, very few beginners are capable of out shooting them, and they're tough enough to survive a long time around the house. I'd get the x boarded revvy if I had to make a choice....
13 is plenty, especially since that gun has eyes in it.
Don't do the evo(egg), they're horrible. If your not going revvy go grab a used halo(got one for sale for 50$ in fact) or vlocity, or pick up a new eyeforce. Personally, for just goofing around, grab a revvy and have fun.
I'd also drop the $$ for a new feedneck. 20$ and it will pay for itself in about a year of having to replace plastic adapters. It will also make the gun lower profile and more comfortable.
