I've played a couple of times, and I could tell that if I got hit in the eye I'd be pretty screwed up. But as long as you wear a mask, you should be fine; driving to the field is more dangerous.

God dammit she makes me angry.
I saw a video about paintballing and I got jazzed up about it again, and she's still not gonna crack.
I finally started threatening about forging her signature on the paper they give you at the field.

Oh and I tried telling her:
-It's a game I want to play, I'm not trying to make her go.
-It's my problem for paying for all of the gear.
-It's my business (again, not trying to drag her in for than for her signature).
-I don't give a flying f**k if it is about shooting people. (that's the fun part)
-I told her it's like tag, that game you played in first grade, where one guy was "it" and the object was not to be "it".
And she does let me play game like Halo 3, so I dunno why this is so different.

Well rule out ear and sight loss.
ALWAYS...ALWAYS wear a maks when playing.
Death? CO2 canister exploding? If you dont know how to screw in and out a tank properly you shouldnt be playing paintball or maybe even walking around in everyday society.
Throat? Personally I've been hit in the throat probably about 5 times. but I play speedball and when I did play I played for 5-6 years. And if you wanna be 100% safe in your neck region you can always get a neck protector for like 5-10 bucks.

You ever seen any big tournaments played? Like dynasty xsv for example?
You see those guys doing full on faceplant dives with their masks on and they dont fly off.

Yo golf is more dangerous than paintball. Look it up. You are more likely to be injured in a friendly game of golf then the aggressive game paintball is. Just don't be a retard.

as stated a few times throughout this thread.... going to a non- paintball affiliated source (non bias) always helps.... but i found this here on the forum, when my cousin first got into it, and i showed my aunt and uncle, and they let HER, play....
here is the link, i do not take credit for any of this whatsoever.... i credit this to those who typed it into the forum
this should help a ton...

I've actually already used that, and she's gonna talk it over with my dad.
So it's looking hopeful.
Problem being, now I'll only be able to rent markers. And I want my own SOOOO bad.
Smart Parts Vibe, Kingman Spyder, or a Tippmann 98.
I want one unbelievably bad.

I can attest to that. I'm new to the forums, but I've been playing paintball since I was 12, and golf since I was 10. I have broken my ankle playing golf (granted, the men teeing off didn't realize that we were still on the green) But the worst injury that I've ever gotten from paintball would have to be my first game. I got nailed in the breasts a few times and they bruised up a bit.
If you really want to play, and your parents will let you rent from the field, then rent. Once your Mother sees that it isn't dangerous, then she will (eventually) let you get your own marker. My father was the same way as your mother, and take it baby step by baby step. I promise it is the way to go.

well i'm 20 and just getting started into it....
the rig i'm buying is a spyder vs1 with an empire reloader b, j&j 14" ceramic barrel, and that's about it for now.... maybe a new board when spring rolls around.....
but the big thing man... ( i mean look at me, i'm not to far out of my childhood) is don't beg... i mean, eat it, drink it, live it, breath it, read it, but don't beg your parents.... like beg without actually begging, go to walmart and buy a paintball 2x mag, and watch youtube videos, and let them see you doing that, and it shows that you want it really bad, but your not annoying them or pissing them off...

It's not that she see is as dangerous(although she does, from a different reason), the reason she will only let me rent, is that she is 110% anti-projectile firing device! (she groaned when I brought home our 8th grade science project trebuchet[sp?])
It has a breach, barrel, and it fires small projectiles at a decent clip, it's a gun.

I understand that. My dad was completely against me playing. Different reasons, of course, but the idea that Paintball leads to violence later in life is just up there with the theory that violent video games do the same. Ridiculous to those who know it to be false, but a great threat to those who are ignorant enough to not at least try it. I've been down these same roads.
If you can compromise with her, and get her to meet you half way, it is far easier to show her your views on paintball.
Also, right out begging usually makes people like that even more stubborn in their answer. Trust me. How does your Dad feel about the situation? Could you perhaps go to him and plead your case so to speak? Usually if you can get one parent to agree with you, that parent can convince the other.
Hang in there--it will work out one way or another.

I'm a she, not a he
My dad didn't want me to play because of it.If all else fails, wait a few months (as hard as it may seem) and buy your gear. Get a friend to take you to Acadamy or Walmart and get a set. (I know for the most part you're not gonna find exactly what you want, but to start out it works). Show your parents that you are responsible enough to differentiate Paintball Markers and Guns. Also show them you are responsible enough to take care of the upkeep of the equipment.
You have to subtly chisel away at their will. Too bluntly and you only strengthen it.

Alright dude.
Safety is obviously important in paintball. And if you're mom is that concerned, try to form some sort of compromise. I would suggest asking a ref (or some sort of superior knowledge of paintball) to oversee your CO2 detachment for the first couple of times. Assure your parent that you will seek help if needed, and otherwise even the minimum safety requirements should cover everything else. Also, expect a few welts after your first time.
As for your gun, I think a basic Tippmann 98 would be a solid choice. Seeing how I have one myself, I can say it is the perfect choice as a starting marker in speedball or woodsball(woot). Many people might try to convince you to buy a better marker because you'll need it in the near future. That's exactly why the 98 is the best one. It is almost too customizable. I've had my 98 for about a year and a half and I continually upgrade it to match my skills. Not to mention upgrades keep coming.
Gearwise, I hope you can learn from my mistakes. I bought one of those cheap "starter packs" and it was a complete waste of money. Instead of getting more upgrades for the 98, get a BETTER MASK and HOPPER to go with a basic 98. Those "starter kits" give you foggy masks and cheap gravity fed hoppers that will chop every other ball. Also look into getting a pod belt because you'll need the ammo.
Best of luck bro.
*Marker Setup*
Tippmann 98 Custom
Cyclone Feed System
Fang Trigger
16" Smart Parts Barrel
6 position collapsible M4 stock
ADCO Red Dot Sight
CORE Coiled Remote Line
