Paintball Ambush Sniper
Hi, I'm not new to paintball but I'm getting a new gun and I want to play the role of "ambush sniper". Post thing that you think I would need to have(ghillie suit?) and any suggestions on light, accurate markers. I do have a budget of roughly $500. Thanks

woodsball pretty much = tippmans. You can customize 1 for yourself with all the upgrades you want and it will look real to.

~Sigh~ here we go again...
Here's the deal, in paintball, everyone is shooting at the same speed, with paintballs that weigh the same, so no one is going to have the magical paintball gun that shoots farther than everyone elses (and will still have paint break on people and be accurate).
A ghillie suite is a very specific piece of camoflauge, so it's most likely that if you get a ghillie suite off the net, it won't blend properly with your environment, and when you take it to different fields, you will probably run into the same problem. They're expensive, take a lot of time to make (if you make it yourself), and can get hot and uncomfortable.
For a marker to be accurate, 90% is your paint to barrel match, 9% is paint quality, and 1% is the reciprocating mass of the marker. Get a good barrel kit and you should be good.
So, with all that said, do you still want to be a "sniper" or do you just want to get a nice paintball marker and barrel kit?

he said ambush sniper azn, no need to get your panties in a bunch
Still there's a lot to be said about wasting money trying to get a realistic looking marker.

Not getting into the paintball sniper debate again. However, ambushing is always a good strategy when in the bush.
Any marker with good accuracy should do you just fine, but get one with a good rate of fire, because no good woodsballer will ever be alone just waiting to be ambushed.

Kinda implies that just about every single marker is just as accurate as the next

90% of accuracy comes from the guy doing the shooting you can still get people out with a cheap marker. If you are just starting out I'd recommend a Smart Parts SP1, a Ricochet AK hopper (light, low profile, quiet) and a nice mask like a Vforce Profiler. You will also need something to carry paint if you want to be an "ambush sniper" chances are you took a look over at Special Ops and may be thinking of a vest. Don't buy a vest. Look at a quality harness like the NXE Elevation line.
Ambushing is easy if you aren't over thinking it the biggest factor is just finding a spot to do it the gear you have doesn't matter much at all.

When I say "sniper" I dont mean long range shooting, thus I should have called it something like Marksman. I mean I'll be doing some 'one shot, one kill'. Sorry about that =P
I'll probably be getting an SP-1, what barrel lengh would you guys suggest? It needs to be vertasile in the bushes yet accurate enough for 'one shot on kill'
Thanks

12-16 inches, since barrel length doesn't make a big difference, the paintball only touches the first 6 inches or so of the barrel

im an ambush sniper and i have a 98 custom. they are lighter than the a-5 and x-7. i got a 20" barell, ricochet hopper, saw stock and double trigger off of pntball.com that website is awesome and cheap. all together my gun cost $220. i also would recomend a ghillie suit of rap4.com or specopspaintball.com. i made my own out of a walmart genaric brown sweatshirt. then i cut slits in it and tied ripped up olive green, tan and brown t-shirt bits in those holes. its a light weight, cheap, fire proof, breathable ghillie suit and i love it. all the things for the ghillie suit cost me about $45

cool thanks guys =]
I'll definitely consider making a ghillie suit but I'll check the web too
tell me what you think of this:
-SP-1
-14 inch Freak Jr. barrel
-stock (whatever they have at the store)
-ricochet hopper
-20oz Co2 w/ remote or anti siphon
-harness for Co2 tank
-camo clothing

Forget the ghillie, and if you're going to be prone a lot, than the tank with remote is going to be a bad idea. Also, 16 is the longest you're really going to need, otherwise, you start losing efficiency.
Other than that, it looks good Selling a Ricochet AK btw, check my sig
Just remembered, Jester is selling one too, check with him and see who has the better price

About the ghillie, I havent finished growing yet and if I get one and outgrow it, that would be a waste of money. I'll probably make one thats good enough to fool the players until they are in good range for a cheap price.
As for the remote line, I was thinking about that factor too. Would I just go anti siphon then?
And I'll check out what you've got for sale =P
