Keep in mind that most sponsors are looking for something in return as well. No one is going to line up to give new teams anything. However, if you have something to offer in return you may have more luck. A team would offer visibility for their logo on jerseys etc, and also some busnesses like to have pictures of teams they sponsor to show community imvolvement to potential customers. Put together a presentation for some of your local businesses showing them what sort of visibility sponsorship of your team will get them and what if anything (pictures of the team in jerseys with their logo etc) you will give in return. If you present it as giving them an advertising opportunity rather than asking for a handout you will probably get a lot further. Best of luck.

It's only an advertising benefit if you will be at a lot of large events and actually winning enough to be seen. My advice is to enter some tournaments and when you start winning and your team starts getting seen out front then maybe you can start asking around for a sponsorship. I'm in business and I have lots of people approaching me to fund this or that or whatever and there is only so much money available to do it. I'll sponsor local sports teams like kids soccer or hockey because I know there will always be parents there watching their kids and local news coverage and 20 kids sporting my company logo. An off the street offer for a new tourney team will get ignored unless you can prove that I will get some return on my money and I actually play paintball.
