Newb here.

Hey, the name's Matt. Very new to the sport, played a few times in the backyard with some buddies. Sorta like huntin'.

I just got a paintball gun from my buddy. A Spyder Xtra.

That's it right there. I tested it out behind my fire house and found it wasn't automatic nor semi. I have to cock it back everytime I wanted to shoot it. Is there something I can do to make it so I don't have to cock it back all the time?

Something in your marker is broken because that is semi-auto marker.

Would you have any clue on what I should start to look for in the marker? Could the velosity be turned up too much?

First thing you need to check is that you have enough gas. Then just oiling the thing might do the trick. If not, check the springs, both the valve and the main spring, if they're broken or rusty or damaged in any way, replace them. Then check your valve assembly for obstructions, make sure there's gas going to the hammer side of the valve because otherwise it won't be pushed back.

Alright, I'll see what I can do today.

[EDIT] I downloaded a product manual, so once I finish taking it apart and seeing if I can find the problem, I'll check back.
