which paintball gun to buy?
I'm new to the sport and was wondering on what paintball gun i should get i'm intending to use it for speedball. so here's a list on what i was thinking about. In order for most liked to least.
Smart Parts Vibe(new)......$139.99
Spyder Pilot (refurb)......$84.95
Spyder Victor (new)........$54.99
Spyder vs1 (new)........ ..$139.99
Spyder Sonix (new).........$88.16
Tippmann 98 Custom (new)...$123.58
I'm leaning more towards the pilot but, because it's refurb I don't know if it is going to work. I just want a gun that is good for rec ball.If you have any comments on guns please post

What gun you should get depends on what your gonna do with it. Are you going to play woodsball or speedball?

I usually stick my gun under their mask and ramp on their face for a few seconds to disorient them, then I proceed to tank whip them in the nuts repetitively until they pass out in the middle of the field so I can wear them on my back like a buffalo hide and sneak behind the rest of their team. lol

Ok ive heard that the Pilot is nice but i would avoid any thing that is a refurb. If your willing to spend the $160 i would get an Ion. I have one and have not had any problems with it. It fast and acurate and when you want to upgrade it theres countless upgrades for it.

pick upa spyder VS1 instead of any of those. it's much nicer, better quality as well. and the price isn't all that much higher.

I'd go with the Tippman becuase the older spyders are unreliable.

if you are a new player i would highly recomend the tippmann 98 custom act (yes kaz i agree with you for once)
They are both rugged and reliable and highly upgradeable so as your skill improves and you knowledge of the game increases you can accomidate you gun to your style of play.
As for the spyders go spring quality on a referb isn't always the best and quality control is a little to lax for my liking.
If you are looking for something that shoots alot of paint out of the box.
Take a look @ the wgp Synergy 18 bps (it comes with a vlhopper that is matched perfectly to the gun) it does cost a little more but it imo is alot better than the spyders you are looking @ If you are looking to get in to a tourny it has presets for psp ramp and nxl full auto

I'm starting to lean more towards the smart parts vibe even though it's not on the list. I like it because it has mutiple modes and is small.

Since you are going to be playing speedball I would go with the VS1. They are great guns for starting out, electric, eyes and pretty good for upgrading.

Not just the vibe but most electric guns have multiple modes. You dont really want to play on full auto but having ramping can be good when your first starting out.

having ramping is especially bad when starting out. it teaches you to be lazy and is a crutch.

The anti syphon tanks are nice but i would spend the same and get an HPA tank. The gauge on the tank comes in handy in between matches and you can get a 48/3000 for $50 which i think is a little bigger then a 20 oz for not much more. Also the HPA tanks dont need to be unscrewed to be refilled which lowers your chances of blowing out the O-ring.
