Congradulations on getting back into paintball!! I wish you all the luck in the world, here is some tips(if you want them) on what I learned 2 weeks ago when i got back into the game:
1) First few games take just the hopper and maybe 1 pod out with you(unless your a sprinter in your day job). your joints will need some break in time. I went out with my mini and full hoppers right from the start, and ouch!!!! My legs hurt for 2 days, although my butt did take on a nice shape(my wife says so).
2) Pain sets in the muscles that you havent used, take some motrin before and after your day at the field. It wont help much, but at least you will feel like you are taking proactive measures.
3) Water, water, and more water. Something i wasnt accustomed to was drinking before playing. Hydrate well before you go play(a day in advance at least) Half of your local lake will be the standard intake until your body becomes adjusted again.
4) Try and stretch out some before playing to keep limber. No dancing stuff though, you dont want the others thinking your a bit light in the loafters(unless you are of course)
5) Find the guys with the speedball gear, and go on the other team. Get shot early to get through the adjustment period.
6) In reference to #5 dont say out until after the 6th hit(About 1/4 of a second at 34bps). You want to get the full effect on the first game.
7) Walk the field first(if possible) I found some poison ivy, a tick, 4 broken branches, a tree stump and my exwife(not the same as the previously listed tick). All are good obsticles to avoid.
8) Avoid distractions associated with everyone elses younger girl friends wearing biki tops or tank tops to the field, this can be done by bringing your wife. Its ok to get hungry but eat at home.
9) Off stops mosquitos(but not your ex wife/girlfriend/lover/lawyer), bring it!
10) If you cant avoid #8 then use #9 on the wife.
Most of all have fun and welcome back to the game. Woodsball hasnt changed much over the years and should rekindle your love for the game again. Not to mention your partner will appriciate the new look you will get even after a few weeks. I went from Homer Simpson to Kacey Kayne in a week(cept my wife is my corporate sponsor).
