To buy or not to buy?
I just tried paint balling for the first time today and it was extremely fun and I think it's something I want to do many more times.
I was wondering whether I should I buy myself a gun, or use a the rental guns the next couple of times I get the chance to go there?
I was looking at Spyder's, and I really liked the Pilot ACS and the Sonix (I think that was what it was called).
So just some general advice on a nice beginner setup for with good quality stuff I guess is what I'm really asking here?

If you're sure you want to continue playing, getting your own gear will save you money in the long run. The guns you mention aren't bad, although I personally would look more towards a Spyder VS-1 or Smart Parts SP-1, as they have electronic triggers and are much faster than the Sonix or Pilot. They are both also compatible with co2 still if you require using it. Get a Viewloader Eye-Force to go with it, and a good mask such as the V-Force Profilers, and you'd be set to play. I personally would recommend getting a compressed air tank instead, such as a 48/3000 steel tank, if where you play has all day air. While it won't last long, it can be used with better guns if in the future you decide you'd like to get one.

I see your point on the gun I chose, but I found I used ammunition very quickly and I think I could obtain better self control and accuracy if I stick with a gun that has firing modes. Unless those guns also have firing modes in which case I will go check them out right now.
Some more questions:
What's a Viewloader Eye-Force?
Is buying armor worth it, our should I stick with a jumpsuit until I get better?
EDIT: I just looked at the two guns you mentioned to me, and although I liked both, I'm wondering if I will have problems with the battery on the electronic guns.

Batteries aren't really a problem. Just keep a spare, and when you're done playing, remove the battery from the gun, and you'll be fine.
The Eye-Force is a forcefeed hopper by Viewloader. Around $60, can feed 20 bps so it'll work with any future guns you get, holds a full 200 balls. VERY good hopper for the price.

Here is a tip that will help you save paint in the future: Paintballs don't travel very far so keep your finger off the trigger until you have a hope of actually hitting someone. If there is one thing that drives me nuts it is the noobies painting the ground with long ball shots.
Back on track: If by armor you mean a chest protector don't bother most people don't use them after the first game I've never used one but then again you don't one if you never get hit.
All the markers I've used run on 9Volts.

Yeah, I was thinking a Jersey wasn't necessary but I wasn't sure.
Does anyone else have an opinion on the gun?
EDIT: I was looking at paintball packages and I found one I thought had good quality parts, but it also raised a question.
Is nitro Co2 or Compressed Air?
This is the package I was looking at by the way: Kingman Spyder Pilot ACS Red 4 Star Nitro Paintball Gun Package

Jerseys are nice but not needed buy a good pair of paintball pants instead they are life savers.
Nitro is compressed air back in the day they actually used nitrogen so the terminology stuck around but the air used now is just regular compressed air that we all breathe everyday. That is actually a nice package and one of the few I've seen that actually contains both a real hopper and a harness instead of a crappy pod belt.

That package runs nearly $400 bucks which is insane...
Look at a used spyder which you can get (even an electro model) for under $100 bucks easy.. (search e-bay for instance)
V-Force Profiler -- $60 bucks
Viewloader Eye Force -- $60 bucks
NXE pod pack -- $50-60 bucks
47/3000 psi HPA tank -- $60 bucks
All told you are still well under $400 for the package and you are getting better stuff.

That is true.
What's better, and Eye Force or a egg 3, because the egg 3 is cheaper at zephyr paintball?
EDIT: How does this look: Kingman Spyder PILOT ACS Paintball Gun Marker - eBay (item 120266792733 end time Jun-04-08 07:53:37 PDT)
It's new, and has free shipping.
EDIT 2: Using Medic's advice, I was able to find what he said I should get for 275 dollars which is a much better deal.

Not bad, it seems fine.
And for the hopper, the Eye-Force blows the egg3 out of the water. The egg3 is semi forcefeed, while the eye-force is true forcefeed.
As for the tank, I'd really try and stay away from a steel tank. A fiber wraped 3000 tank would be much nicer.
But, if you're sticking with guns that are CO2 compatable, I'd just get a 12oz CO2 tank, save up your money, and get a full 4500psi tank later, but that's just me.

Well, I've been looking at zephyrpaintball for a tank, and there doesn't seem to be many fiber wrapped tanks there, but I'll keep looking.
