Spyder MR1. That's my personal favorite, but don't get Tippmann.

The marker has little to nothing to do with accuracy that is the job of the person doing the shooting something a lot of the kids tend to forget and unfortunately you can't buy skill it is still something you have to earn.

Stock Tippman barrels are some of the least accurate in paintball.

buy a nice custom pro, but not a platinum, those models break alot. Forget what these guys say, spyders are the most likely to break, next to brass eagle.

it's not wortht he money to upgrade a tippman with an electronic trigger frame. they're jsut about as costly as the marker itself.

They replaced a lot of the metal parts and made them plastic. The gas feed area is very brittle on a platinum...

from your description, a smart parts SP1 or Spyder MR1/VS1. Tippmanns are not horrible but are without a doubt a terrible value. SP1's never chop balls, are extremely efficient, the easiest to disassemble and maintain, and shoot fast. In paintball the factors that determine accuracy are: Gas consistency (so that an equal amount of force is behind each shot) and paint to bore match. (The size of the paint in relation to the size of the barrel.) An SP1, unlike a Tippmann, has a regulator, which helps keep gas consistency good. It also is electric, which reduces the number of moving parts you have to maintain, consequently reducing recoil. I'm not trying to be an SP1 fanboy but it performs better than a Tippmann in every way. On the other hand, Tippmanns are infinitely more upgradeable, don't have the feedneck blocking your vision (if you like to aim that way, though in paintball you shouldn't), ...and thats it. Oh and Tippmanns are extremely expensive, as are it's "upgrades", which are mostly just for looks.

Just a quikie on the flatline-
They don't work as promised. The flatline makes the ball lob upwards, making it MORE inaccurate. There are numerous articles on this, so you know I'm not BSing you. Stay awway from the flatline.

Not sure what did you include in the "gas feed area". By comparing the Platinum and None Platinum version, the part numbers related the "gas feed" are exactly same.
Since the part numbers for the core are same between the platinum and none platinum, what is the major metal part got changed to plastic?
Or you are talking about the existing tippmann guns comparing to the guns they made 10 years ago.
Please make sure that you are sending correct information to the new player.

How about a nice old fashion PGP pistol. (joking, i got a pair of them)
Tippmanns over all are good guns. But what kills them is there price and recently a drop off in the quality of some of the parts when compared to older Tippmanns. One of the most common and often first upgrade done to a Tippmann is to replace the barrel. After that there is not alot that needs to be done to one and any thing else is not really needed for a starting player. One thing that gets alot of players is the price of a Tippmann compared to other guns.
Spyders are excellent starter guns. Most of the problems that I have seen with Spyders are more common on their cheaper guns (Any one with a plastic frame). This ranges from grip frame screw coming loose to the bolt jamming on a bit of a chopped ball. When getting a Spyder style gun avoid a brand call "Icon" and "View loader"as they are poor quality guns a break fairly often.

Bonmot, I also own both a platinum, instead a of gas line going into the gun, it gos into an adaptor that can be taken apart quickly. This sacrifices quality and as a result, the gun will break down.

I see. But are there any moving parts in the adaptor? Or it breaks by hitting the gas line hard?
