The Big Barrel Question. True or False?

From some of the friends that play and have played for awhile have told me this. Anything over 18" (Ex:18"-21" barrels) don't provide any distance or accuracy? Is this true? or false? For a Woodsball setting, what size is going to give me the best distance and accuracy? 16"? 18?" 14" even? Thanks guys!

Anything above 16 is pointless and will just cause more drag on the ball and kill your efficiency. Buy good paint, use a consistent gun, and have a decent barrel and you won't ever have to worry about accuracy.

Exactly. A good quality 12-16" barrel with quality paint that fits well (not TOOO overbored, but slightly overbored) will shoot as consistently and accurately as anything you will EVER find (in paintball)

damn right!
plus, it also depends on where you play...

if you are playing indoor, compact or even outdoor with lots of buildings to go into, 12 or 14inch will give you much better maneuver within those area.

plus, if you are playing outdoor, wind will mess up everything that has to do with accuracy with long distance =p

Personally, I use a 14" redz barrel kit. Hasnt let me down yet.

If you want the best accuracy, the kit is the way to go. You can size the paint you're using to the barrel. works great.

I know I hardly ever post outside of the Lounge, but I just wanted to point out an advantage of a longer barrel (16").

When playing woods or airball, a longer barrel can be advantageous. In woods, it's useful if you are hiding in brush - this way your barrel is long enough to stick through the brush. If that's your style of play, a 16" may be good. In airball, a longer barrel can help you play tighter, as you can use the barrel to push into the bunker and expose less of your body.

Just a tip. It's still personal preference.

I use 12-16" barrels everywhere. Size of barrel that I choose depends on which barrel I'm going to use (some I don't have different tips for), and what marker I'm using (my Mini looks kinda dumb with a 16" barrel, so I'll usually use something shorter).

because you already have a good barrel. and getting a longer one won't help you any more.

wait im a bit confused, you got the 14" barrel off the ego? or he gave you the ego? at any rate i wouldnt be convinced the J&J would be an upgrade from the barrel off a stock ego.

Shaft barrels aren't that great, but a J&J wouldn't be a big difference bigger.
