compressed air will work on all guns. i would recomend compressed air because it isnt affected my temperature changes so your pressure is always consistant. tank come in 2 catagorys 3000psi tank and 4500psi tank. 3000psi tanks are usually heavier and made of metal, while the 4500psi tanks are made of carbon fiber and are very light weight. tanks also come in different sizes the most common sizes for 4500psi tanks are 48ci and 68ci, but they can go up too 90ci. the 3000psi tanks can be as small as 13ci and can get as big as 62ci.

right now action village has a 68/45 tank for $100 Worrgames Stratos Preset N2 Tank - 68ci 4500psi at ActionVillage.com : Paintball

and paintball-online has a 70/45 tank for $100 Pure Energy 70ci 4500psi HPA Tank w/ Reactor 2 Regulator
now all you have to do is pick your poison

you should go with the compressed air tank. You can find one 48ci/3000psi (should give you 500 shots/fill) for $50 or less.
I found one for $30 @ Universal 48ci/3000psi Alloy Compressed Air Tank System
I used to have the tippmann 98C using the compressed air tank, so you should be fine.
Good luck

Shorter reg and more recent hydro date. It's a no brainer to go with the PE over the WGP.

ADVICE FAIL: haha. kidding. but no seriously.
one: tanks come in more then 3000 and 4500.... they come in 5000, and as low as 2000 ive seen. (not sure why, i think they are used for other then paintball stuff.)
two: 4500s come in metal too, not just carbon fiber...
three: 4500 tanks can start at 45ci.
four: 3000psi tanks can get as big as 88ci.

they also make fiber wrapped tanks in larger sizes. As far as I know, they also onyl make fiber wrapped tanks in the "stubby" shapes

There are only a few common easy to find sizes the smaller 13/3000 tanks are only popular for pump markers and the larger sizes are typically only found with scenario players your typical speedballer isn't very interested in a 114/4500 (Spec ops sold one for a bit). So it is really splitting hairs to call somebody out for not listing all the obscure sizes that are out there.

actually, they do make them in steel. and maybe aluminum. they make them for other purposes then paintball, and they can and are converted to use for paintball.

AND: to add to my corrections, ACI actually makes tanks that go up to 6000 psi.
edit: i just wanted him to get the range of tanks right.

yes you can use them but they wont be endorsed by the DOT for use in such and could be dangerous to do so over time, metal tanks at high pressures going through pressure changes all the time weakens the metal, after a while of being stressed continuously it may fail, they had a few cases of this a while back with some 3k metal tanks that were designed for use in aircraft so the walls around the threads were thinner, resulting in a much shorter life and tanks failing hydro, yes hydro should catch tanks that are bad but iv been to a few fields that do not check hydro dates when filling, its not that far out there to think that someone could be going to one of these fields all the time and never have the date checked for years

and its kinda pointless for anyone to buy a 5k or 6k tank since nobody can fill it

My local field can actually fill 5000psi

They have their own compressor and they start the day off with about 5500psi in their fill tanks so people can get true 4500psi fills for longer

The only field around here that gives true 4500 fills are PEVS at Aldie but those are pretty warm fills.

PAP's gives 4500 warm fills if you go up when the compressor is refilling the first couple tanks in their chain.

where I played they were able to fill at 4500psi. They achieved it by steps, one fill, resting time, another, resting time...

wow, one field I used to play at (it shut down). When they finally got a fill station set up, it only filled about 1000 psi. I would normally fill at the diveshop before I played but, then again this same field opening day after everyone payed they were like alright pick teams and play. They didn't even no what a chronograph was, now that is ignorance.
