Wow. I wish I had a grand to spend on paintball stuff.

Alright. Always start with the mask! If you can't see, you can't play. I've heard alot about the JT Spectra and it sounds really good. It'll run you about $80. Then, you need tank. Actionvillage has a 68/4500 tank for $100. Good tank for the money. As for the hopper, I'm not to educated about them, but a Invert Too would probably be good for you. It'll run you about $60. That leaves $760. You could get a PMR for about $500, and still have some money left. Or, you could get an Invert Mini. Then you'd have even more left. It's really all about what you want. Hope I helped.

You also might want to look at the Angel guns. They're more expensive, but they're good guns. I use to play with a guy that had one, and it looked like a red garden hose coming at me. They throw paint.

Also, look at the DM6. Also more expensive, but a good gun from what I've heard.

Used Angels can be had for decent prices. Used Angel 1 - $300, 3-piece eye covers + magno valve + magno ram = $150. And it will shoot smoother than ANY other poppet valve marker EVER made.

That's what I was thinking. Some people don't like angels though. I was just trying to think of some good high quality guns to tell him about. Give him a good variety.

All prices in American, all used prices as I personally can't stand buying new since you save so much buying used:

FEP Quest - $250-$350
Proto M8 - $350-$500
Dye M7 - $350-$500
Bob Long Vice - $350-$600
Bob Long Marq 6/7/Edge - $300-$500
Angel Paintball Sports A1 - $250-$400

That would be my short list of what I'd be willing to look at if I were purchasing right now and didn't already own most of those.

id say look at the DM7 ($500 max). a good mask (if you set $100 aside for the mask you can get pretty much anything on the market) a Rotor ($150) and a 68/45 from actionvillage ($100) thats a $850 total wich will leave you money for the little things like swabs, tools and spare o-rings

Don't forget to check out the Halo Too I picked one up today just out of curiosity and I actually really like it. It's just a sound activated Halo but for about the same price as the Eye Force and it isn't nearly as hideous.

If you want to pay alot, get the Dye Rotor. It'll set you back about $160. Now if you want cheaper, but good, get the Invert Too. From what I hear it's really good for the money. About $60.

consider a different gun right off the bat than the marq series. The ones I have tinkered with have been a little finicky about working right every time.

Timmies are nice cheap options.

Miller- I have to COMPLETELY disagree with you on the A-1. I found the G7 platform to be a much more solid shooter, and there are several other poppits on the market I would put shooting as good or better than the A-1's, with a whole lot fewer quality control issues.

IMO, if your looking to break in on a used gun, the 05+ timmies are hard to beat. There are parts available for them everywhere, the gun is not difficult to work on, it's dependable, and you find them used all the time for ~250$.

I have yet to shoot a better-made, more efficient, smoother-shooting rambolt/poppet marker than AKA Vikings and Excals. Been 5 years since they went out of production and nothing has touched them yet. But hey, that's just my personal experience.
