1. Get a mask first; Start with your head! It's the most important thing!
V-Force, Vents, Empire, Invert, Dye Proto and JT Spectra all make great masks
2. Get a hopper; a good hopper will last you your entire paintball career without needing to be replaced with "something better"
Look into the VL Eye-Force and the Invert Too
3. Spend your remaining money on a gun, field fees and paintballs!
With a conservatve estimate, that leaves you $150 left for your gun. Look into Spyders; cheap, reliable, light, small, easy maintenance, modddable

i have a mask all i need is a marker,co2and a cheap hopper
I would get a spyder like Azn said. I have an 07 Spider Sonix, decent gun for the low price. The 09 is even better, has a metal clamping feed neck, as opposed to the plastic crap. That's a good reason to buy that one.
As for good accuracy, that's hard to achieve when you have to play under 300FPS. Quality paint balls and a longer barrel(16"), are the best you can.
Every marker have to shoot to the same velocity, so they all have the same range. I agree that a Sonix 09 is a great beginner marker. Is under 300$ your budget ? Because in the 200-300 range, you have plenty of choices alot better than a Tippmann 98c or a spyder Sonix...
