Question a few rookie questions...

me and my friends are really considering getting into paintball, i have all ready bought a gun and am entirely to excited to play. so like ive all ready read some people saying, starting out i have a million questions running through my head, i have read all the new player stickies and things like that but i still have some unanswered questions...

first off...what do you wear??
i mean i know you wear the chest peice and leg armor...do you put clothes over the padding though? is there anything that you CAN'T wear? i thought id just go in with padding on and crappy clothes over it that i didnt mind messing up.

gun upgrades...
now i bought a spyder vs1, i read on here that that was a bad idea, buying a spyder is a bad choice because you dont really upgrade it, you just need to buy a new model, is that true? i mean i bought a mask, electric hopper a 24oz co2 tank 2 pods and the gun for 100...didnt seem like a bad price...but i didnt really do my homework to well before i bought...wish i woulda seen this site first! so that lead to another question, did i spend my money right?

also a question about the spyder vs1...it didnt have a charger with it, the guy just told me to use a 9v battery and gave me the rechargeable spyder battery. he told me i could probly just buy a camera charger and use it with the gun...can anyone confirm this?

im sure more questions will race through my mind so ill keep posting them here...
im sorry in advance if i had asked a question that could have been found in a sticky...
also a big hello to everyone, im sure ill be around for a while

Ok, In order:

Anything. I wear a pair of crappy pants, and a pair or camo BDU's over them, a long sleeve shirt with my camo shirt over it, and boots. Just wear something you don't mind getting dirty.

Not a bad starter gun. I think you spent your money pretty well for a first time purchase. Just play with what you have, and if you feel that you need to upgrade something, upgrade it. But, with that being said, if the gun is stock, you need a new barrel. Most stock barrels suck. I would suggest a 14" J&J ceramic. They're about 30 bucks. Very good barrel for the money.

NO!!!!!!!!!! You can not use a normal 9V. If you can't find one locally, order a charger. If you use a normal 9V you run the risk of frying your gun.

But I think you did pretty good. Go out and play and just have some fun with your friends.

1. You really don't need armor. I sometimes play in jeans and a t-shirt

2. The VS1 is a fantastic marker, jet a J&J Barrel and maybe do a few mods and you're golden

3. You can use 9v batteries with your gun, they will just have to be premium batteries (energizer, duracell, etc.) and won't last very long. It'll be a good ide to look into a charger for your 9.6v battery

Are you sure, Azn? I'm almost positive you have to use a 9.6v because a normal 9v won't give your gun as much juice, and with it having less juice running to it, that can fry your board.

How would running less juice fry your board?
Your logic seems to be flawed...

Weever seems to be wrong on this topic than.
I will have to discuss this with him in private, perhaps I'm just not getting something

Circit boards can "fry" with less power also. they are a little more complicated then you're thinking. I don't know a ton about electonics, but i've seen low batteries and wrong battieries kill things before.

undervolting causes stress on many electrical parts. While it won't be as fast of a death as overvolting, it most definitely can cause the parts to fry.

so carry a 9.6 or two as primarys and a few 9v as backups is what i would think

woodsball is played, well in the woods, generally a fairly large field, not being able to see your opponent at the start. stealth is generally important until a firefight begins. camo is pretty over rated and not as helpful as people lead you to believe. Speedball is played on a much smaller field, sometimes you can see your opponent at the start and you are within shooting range, because of this stealth is pointless, games are at a much much faster pace, paint flying everywhere and teammates yelling to communicate where opposing players are. fields are mirror images of eachother, so both teams have the same exact bunker setup therefore the terrain can not give any advantage to one team

thats the basic rundown

When the game starts, you scramble to your different positions, and start trying to shoot the other team. If you get shot, you are out for the round. It's as simple as that.

There's a few different ways to play. There's speedball, which can be played in the woods, and then there's seek and destory. Speedball is what I described above, and seek and destroy is kinda self-explanatory. You go hide, and the other team tries to find you. It sounds simple to win if you're the team hiding, but don't be so sure. It's more difficult than you'd think.

Electrical formula : P = V*A where P stand for power, V for voltage and A for ampere. The board need some power to work correctly, given at 9.6V. The A is calculate from there, and electronic parts are calculate to handle this A.

If you undervolt the board, running it at 9V, the board will suck more Ampere to work at the same Power, and that can fry the electronics there.

I don't think I am completely wrong there.

Had to pull out the math stuff now...

Great to learn things like this

I know they sell 9.7v batteries with more mAh that will work
Energy Paintball sells one for a decent price, thinking about getting one for my VS2.5

normally you wouldnt be shot there if your behide in bunker right. you could also get paintball pants, they have padding there so you wouldnt have to wear a cup.
