Ok soo its been some time since i played PB but now im ready to get into it again. I am currently looking for a marker. I dont wanna spend more than 300. I have been looking at the proto SLG UL 09 and an ION EX. But because of my lack of knowledge i have no idea wha else is out there. Im more of a woodsball kind of guy but occasionally like to play speedball. PLEASE HELP?!?!?
well to be honest i just wouldnt know what to do that the gun if i cought it used and sumthing was wrong with it. again im pretty much new to the game. I have seen alot of bashing forums about the ion but also lots of praise. Is that really the only way to go when looking for a maker in this price range?
how about maintenance wise? which gun would you guys prefer? all in all i want to get a gun i can get the most bang for my buck. shoots accurately with no chopped balls and can take a little abuse and easy to maintain.
Of those stated before I would go with a mini. Much much much better than an ion and dosn't need $500 in upgrades.
If i had $300 I would get a dangerous power fusion. there are a few new ones still floating around. They are fast, and more durable than the mini/pmr/slg. not quite as small but are light enough.
DP Fusions, yes. DP G3 is horrid. Although The SE fixed a lot of the issues, and now the newest version of the G3 that they just announced should be awesome if they don't overprice it. Now has a roller bearing trigger, gauge stock, REAL board, and they've redesigned the engine for smoother shooting and increased efficiency.
That said, they suckered me into paying MONEY for a G3 (which weren't worth more than say, a Brass Eagle Talon they sucked so badly), so unless they call me up and basically GIVE me the new one whatever it's called, I'll be waiting till someone else buys it to try it.
Odd. My scenario team is sponsored by DP and we have at least 10-15 DP guns between us. Sure, a battery can die every now and then, or an o-ring can need replacing, but we've had zero issues with them. I think part of the stigma goes with the price bracket - you get a lot of people buying them that don't know how to take care of their marker. As you know, most spoolies shoot best when freshly, lightly lubed. The fusion is like many other poppets in that you can basically drag it through the mud and it will keep on trucking.
I shoot mostly spools, that's actually what turned me off the G3 so much. It kicks more than any other spool valve that I've ever owned...including Ion XE, Shocker SFT, PM7, PM8, DM4, DM5, original PMR, Quest, and even more than a couple of poppets that I've owned, the Marq Rapper and any Magno'd A1's/A1 Fly.
That and the trigger is horrendous. The efficiency is on the level of Shocker SFT. The fit and finish of the original G3 was appalling (I didn't have problems, my friend did, it took several hours of dremel work to get his G3 working properly because of the poor QC). The Threshold was a fantastic shooting marker and was well made, but somehow they totally jacked it up when they made it smaller.
