Yes. It's a very good starter marker. Very durable, very simple to use. But you MUST BUY USED! Never ever buy a Tippmann of any kind new. Always buy used.

New Tippmanns are WAY over priced. If you want to spend $160 for one Tippmann 98 Custom, or $200 for one Tippmann A5, there's better guns for the money. Now, if you buy used, you can get two 98 Customs for around $100. Check Ebay out. They usually have some good markers for pretty cheap.

Yes, as long as you're planning on upgrading the barrel and hopper. It's a bit bulky, but all woodsball guns are. ACT is great because it can accept an egrip if you so wish to put one in.

ACT stands for anti shop technology, not the ability to add an egrip

A used Tippmann is great, but I prefer my spyders and other stacked tube blowbacks over them
Spyder's are cheaper to boot as well

Take a look at them, you might just change your mind

Ya, no I know what it stands for, I own one (and just to correct the typo, it's chop, not shop). I was simply saying that because it's newer, Tippmann now cuts out a place for the board and solenoid, whereas in the older models, they don't.

you are right, Any 98 Custom can have an e-grip added to it. The orginal model 98 did not have space for an e-grip but those are from 98-03 or so. I forget all the different versions of the 98 but any newer one will be fine, just get one that says custom on the side.

the newer spyders are better than the older ones, i'll give them that. the older ones were so low of quality i wouldn't use them. the newer ones are better but i'd still raither shoot a tippmann.

I still think you'd be better off getting a used tippmann.

Check these out. One of them is not a ACT, but while the ACT helps some, it doesn't prevent chopping all the time. It still happens.

Tippmann Model 98 Custom paintball gun with hopper - eBay (item 250502228244 end time Sep-26-09 08:01:35 PDT)

tippmann 98 custom ACT package - eBay (item 320426523357 end time Sep-27-09 16:44:27 PDT)

While those are good guns, they're more expensive. Only automag on ebay that's under $100 still has 3 days left.

i would never think about shooting a tippmann over a spyder. But I can see how a person that doesn't play alot and doesnt want to clean/lube markers want a tippmann.

A tippmann with egrip can get very pricy. A spyder with E-grip will be cheaper, even brand new.
