98 custom.... which version to buy?

Hi. i am looking to buy a 98 custom. in doing research i see there are several versions. i see a 98 custom, 98 custom pro, 98 custom pro platinum, double triggers and so on. can anyone tell me the difference? I dont know the difference. i have used a friends 98 custom and looking to buy one of my own. I don't mind paying a little extra if one version is better. thanks for any info!

The custom pro and platinum versions have the A.C.T. (Anti Chop Technology), they're easier to clean, and I know the platinum has a double trigger. For the price, I'd just go with a normal 98 custom.

How much are you planning on spending? Look at the Spyders on AV and check out the Electra and Pilot. Will outperform the Tippmann no problem.

A double trigger doesn't help that much, it just gives your middle finger something to do. It really has nothing to do with the preformance. That would probably be a good buy from actionvillage. This thread is going to end up being a Spyder Vs. Tippmann thread.. But I think that Tippmann would be good.

They are not identical but their internals are similar, you won't have much of a difference in performance if any.

^^^ agreed, A-5 is basically a 98 with a cyclone

i vote spyder or SP vibe depending on your budget, if your getting a mechanical marker spyder all the way, if you want to go e-marker vibe

Yes. An Etrigger is an electronic board that goes in the grip that gives you different firing modes.

cyclone, while a mechanical loader, in my experience is only really reliable up to around 10 bps, once you start going above that it has issues/ needs upgrades / never really works right

Tippmans are overpriced and everything for them is also a money pit.

I completely forgot about the vibe, it's defiantly a good choice my field uses them as rentals and they aren't bad. I'm really tempted to buy one to have a loaner gun or just get a f8.

if your field is also using them i would step up and get the BH vibe then instead if you were going to go that rout. iv never seen much use in buying a marker that the field you will be playing at uses as a rental
