I've been completely out of the loop for about 4 years now. I honestly don't know what's good and what's not. Basically, I'm thinking about getting back into it (not high end speedball, but something that can keep up). Right now I'm torn between fixing up my impulse and sticking a barrel/tank on it (only two things it's missing right now, besides eyes) or just ponying up some cash for a new gun. If I did buy a new one, I'd need a HPA tank anyways. all said and done, I don't want to spend more than $150 on gun/tank, and possibly Imp threaded barrel. If I can get a new gat, tank, and Imp barrel for 150 or less, I'd be very impressed.

Any suggestions? I'm open to anything and everything, doesn't have to be new (already looking at some old spyders and ICD Promasters).

hmmm, well the vibe is going to be the closest, marker alone will run you about $150 and have a SP threaded barrel, but if you wanted to run CO2 on it it will. other than that theres the EW-1, which is a rebadged spyder vs1 selling for $60, spyder barrel of course but again, safe with co2 if you wanted to go that rout or use the left over cash for a 68/4500

why do you need a tank though? dont you have one for the impulse?

Just keep the imp untill it breaks. I'm sure it will once you start using it again. Then look to put some money down on a marker.

an impulse breaking? i had a few o-rings go bad in mine but nothing crazy worth of throwing it away, o ya i guess the board did go, or more correctly the battery wire, 6" of wire and some solder and it would be fixed, but it just so happened i found a replacement for $10

Yeah, i've seen more electronic problems on them then I can count. When those go, its not worth it to fix the imp.

not much has changed in the last 4 years. prices have come down, that's probably about it. shoot what you liked back then, or if something new catches your eye, give it a try.
