newbie here

Hi.
I just played paintball last week for the first time and was hooked. It was for a friend of my sons, it was a paintball birthday party. Now my son wants a marker and so do i.

I found a couple of Spyder Victor guns with all the accessories for about $135. I don't want to do CO2 because of what I read. These have HPA tanks. Then I read further and found that the Blitz's are better markers than the Spyders. Just need a point to the right direction for first time buyer.

Thx for any input.

i think there is too much missing info here, for instance what size and pressure are the HPA tanks and are they even in hydro?

two used spyder victors on their own are worth maybe $60. two out of hydro 48/3k tanks are worth maybe $10-$20 each, in hydro, $50 TOPS on each and really more like $40 each which puts the total to around $100 with out of hydro tanks and $160 if they are in hydro

really azodin and spyder markers are more or less identical. one brand isnt necessarily better than the other. the azodin blitz is far and away better than the spyder victors but likewise the spyder fenix is also far better than the victor

btw, click on the link in my sig, there is a lot of good information in there that you could use

a few notes

first of all, your mask sucks, the mask is absolutely your most important piece of equipment and a crappy one will really limit your day of play and how much fun you have. doesnt matter if you spend $10,000 on your marker setup, if you have a crappy mask that fogs, you cant shoot what you cant see. the foam in the masks can also be a factor for comfort while wearing all day. a crappy mask will have cheap, itchy foam that may or may not seal to your face well. if you have not already, click on the link in my sig and read through it, if the mask you are looking at is not on that list, forget about it

2) marker is good HOWEVER, most blitzes come with macro line to connect the asa to the regulator, this is only an issue if you are running co2 as the liquid co2 can cool down the plastic macro hose to the point that it becomes brittle and can break. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. basically put you have a few options, you can buy a length of steel braided hose and replace the macro on your own ($10 or so), you can use HPA instead (expensive but a good investment for the long run), you can change to the spyder electra which comes with steel hose stock or, if you are ordering from azodin themselves, i have heard you can ask them to set up the blitz for use with CO2 and they will replace the hose free of charge.

3) the hopper, because the blitz is an e-marker it is capable of much much faster rates of fire than the shake and bake hopper you have is capable of. To get the most out of the marker you really have to get something that is going to actively feed the marker paint. However, because the blitz (or electra) has eyes, the good news is they will not chop (or should not anyway) paint but that does mean that you are still limited to around 5 bps or so. I would suggest getting a e-hopper (again, read the guide, they are in there) if you want to get the most out of it and want to stay around in paintball for the long haul. However if you want to stick to a budget i would at least suggest switching to the proto primo hopper. it is still a gravity feed but was designed to be more than just a funnel with a lid. basically put the reason you have to shake a typical gravity hopper is because of pressure from the paintballs at the top of your hopper pushing down on paintballs trying to get into the feedneck causes them to all stop moving and jam the hopper until you shake them loose. the primo adds a shelf in the hopper to prevent this and so it feeds much better since it feeds smoothly and without jams. primos i would say are capable of feeding around 8bps. better than a typical gravity hopper but still a lot to leave desirable as the marker is still capable of greater speeds

I would skip the remote coil. most players do not like them as they physically attach you to your marker, they make off hand shooting difficult and take away the tank that you rest your shoulder against
