ok so i went to fill my hpa tank and there's a scuba store pretty close that i took my tank to about a year ago and they filled it, so i went there today and they said i needed to buy there adapter (fill station) for $80 then they wanted to hydro date it them selves so they know its safe so they dont get hurt so that's another $45. then after that i can go in and fill my tank anytime i want (not sure on there price yet last time it was $8 and they only filled to 2300). so there's a place across town that fills tanks, but there all the way across town so that trip over there wont really be too often. they fill for i think $4 or $5. ive been looking online and have found that i can buy a filler station for like $30-35 and up, does anyone have experience with this?

You can fill with a scuba tank. You'd need that $80 adapter to do it though. Scuba tanks are often filled to only 3000, and will fill a hpa tank to about 2500 at most. I don't see why they need to hydro your tank if the hydro date on it is still good.

yeah i know, i think its because they dont know how paintball tanks work so they dont know what to look for or if im telling the truth idk maybe they just want to scam me, i found some fill stations online for like $26-$30+ so either way im gonna have to buy one, my plan is to buy the fill station, and have them fill my tank then ill save up more money and buy my own tank then i can get that filled for like the same price of my tank and get like 5-8 fills off it instead of having to go to the scuba **** store every week.

if the hydro on your tank is good they are trying to rip you off, just because the hydro stickers on scubas are a little different does not mean your tank is not safe. you should not have to pay for their ignorance.

if i remember straight i got my fill station at around $60 so $80 is not all that far off but maybe a little overpriced. there are different ones out there though. really you can make your own if you want to you just need the parts with the correct threads on them, 1 yoke collar, 1 valve, 1 bleed valve and 1 quick disconnect fitting. its a little ghetto looking but it works, i used 4 separate ones when i was running the camp paintball stuff. did not build them myself though

scubas also need what is called a visual (or vis. for short) inspection every once in a while, basically they take the valve off and have a peek inside to look for any signs of trouble. usually $10 or $15 and takes a day, done by the scuba shop.

scuba shops typically have compressors that only go to 3k so a 2700 fill is not all that unusual. when they fill scubas they typically slow fill them so they can get all 3k in there but a hot fill into a paintball tank, 2700 is normal.
