For that price...without a upper-end hopper - Look towards an Etek3 LT.
I believe fair market value of those markers is $325-350 ish...
If this is your only or primary marker - I can speak volumes about Planet Eclipse's reliability and dependability. This is truly a marker to consider sending in for Anodizing.
My main complaint about this marker - is that it neglects all areas of personality. It doesn't get finicky. It doesn't break. It doesn't have weird...wonky problems...and tinkering really isn't needed. Note: This can be a positive thing for you. Think of it like an iPhone. It just...works.
I'm a spool person - and I found that out after the purchase of my Reflex Rail - but I won't hesitate to throw this in the trunk of my car for when my Reflex (and hopefully soon...Quest) decide to take a steaming dump on my chest. They are about as difficult to maintain as an entry - level marker with the efficiency and shot of a "bottom of the top end" marker.
The only complaint you'll have is that they are loud....and they are. You can tune it, add bolts, change rammers, reach for alleged upgrades - and its just....loud..heh.
Now - loud and reliable as all hell? Or something that can (and will) break...sending you home scratching your head?
Seeing as you're from MN...a fellow mid-westerner.. PE markers appear to be abundant as all get-out around here. Dye seem to be a bit more scarce. Find someone at a field shooting a 3 or a 4 (essentially the same thing..minor changes) and offer a pod of paint to take it to the chrono. Don't buy something you haven't shot. You won't regret the purchase - but don't blindly listen to some random guy you just met on a web board either...

You might want to look into the Planet Eclipse Etha too. All in all to get a decent marker and gear your looking at around a 700-800 bill. Might sound like a lot but if you are a paintball junkie then it's worth it. If you play from time to time I would downgrade to something more simple perhaps a spyder or a tippmann or maybe a GOG. Just my 2 cents, good luck!

Alright thanks guys! and I will look into the etek. I plan to play as often as i can in the summer so i do want a decent set up. I still need a marker, hopper and HPA though.
you can do that any most fields, and chances are, they won't have what you need unless you've got a tippman, or whatever they use for rentals.
and its not like o-rings on a tippmann will ONLY work on a tippmann, they are standard sizes so yes, they may not have every o-ring size that your marker has, but they will have more standard sizes than they will mini and axe sizes thats for sure.
if i remember right the 98 has sizes 012, 015, 019 and i think one other that i can not remember, the 015 of course being the tank o-ring size and used on just about every marker at some point in the design and then one smaller and one larger. so yes, if they carry the 98 rings and only the 98 rings they will not have every o-ring out there, but they will carry more o-rings for your marker, whatever that marker is, if it is not a mini or one of its sisters.
if you are a shop owner, how much money are you really going to make for carrying a set of o-rings that can only ever be used on the mini, axe and TM markers? If i were a shop owner, I would carry 1 set for working on markers and that would be it, then do bulk buys of standard sizes from.....that site that AZN does group buys through that I am forgetting the name of right now....and use those for sale and repair.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that makes a firearm better makes a paintball marker worse. They are 2 very different worlds with nothing except a trigger in common
Alright so a guy just offered me a Proto pm6, Empire rotor, Matrix pod pack and a 68/4500 hpa tank with a case. The tank would need to be re-hydrod. The pm6 he said he added in an ultralight frame, Virtue Board, Stiffi Barrel, Hybrid locking feedneck, and a techt L7 bolt. He would also include some paintballs and two profiler masks with it. Is it a good deal for me? Or should i pass it? I know the guns about 7 years old so idk if its safe? any ideas?
Figure out what an Empire rotor is because that sort of hopper doesn't exist.
find out how old the tank is because they're only good to 15 years. (It's going to cost you around $35 to send it in and have it tested, unless someplace locally can do it for you on site)

I'd love to have some feedback from others too. Then ill have masks for my friends and stuff too since i have a tippman 98 and a spyder xtra. But is this still a decent higher end marker with the upgrades in it also? Thanks for your feed Martix!!
the pm6 isn't terrible at all. my only issue was that it used ribbon wire for the eyes. be careful if you ever have to mess with them. The good news is that the virtue board will also work with wired eyes, but you'll have to spend money on them.
Just looked at it and it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.. I work with iPhones ad a job and hobby. I don't believe that these should be any more tedious as working on an iPhone :P

that and anything else specific to the PM6, bolt, anything with the LPR
parts for it are almost non-existent beyond the noid and trigger frame
granted it is a low chance but if anything ever does happen to one of those it is pretty much a paper weight
that aside if the tank is good, i would say it is a decent deal

I'm looking for it to only last me maybe a year or two max. Then when i have the time and more funds i would upgrade to the better gun. I get what your saying though since its older parts might be harder to find for it. But i can always buy a scrapper for cheap :P and i found some sights that carry like trigger mecs, replacement eyes and ect for pretty cheap

iphones don't have gaskets, lube, regulators, and solenoids... but yeah you'll pick it up pretty quickly
its a decent starter deal. my first ever deal with an 08 electra, halo v35, and e-vents for 200
