I'll throw in an Automag - what other gun can you submerge in warm soapy water and fire it a few times to clean it? A few drops of oil in the asa after it's dry is pretty much the only regular maintenance you need to do.

i disagree with both of these ^^^
A) both you would have to purchase used and if your whole budget is $2-300 it is going to be almost gone on the marker alone, even if that is not your whole budget
B) you have no idea how well they were taken care of and nothing is more frustrating than a marker that does not work when it arrives
C) you are new, the quest is simple but takes some learning the mag is more simple but also, takes a little getting used to
D) parts, should anything happen to either of these there is no chance a local shop will carry spare parts, the quest parts are out there but not supper common, the mag parts are rare and pretty much only on BSTs now a days so its really a toss up if you can find what you need or not
as a second marker I think either of these are great choices but for a first, stick with something in the entry level and more common

AGD still produces anything you could want for mags. They just charge like 10x what they're worth (IMO).

I was just gonna say this....and parts are very easy to come by. There aren't many parts to a Mag lol. Automags.org has everything you need. As for a Mag, there are plenty out there $100 or cheaper - can run on both Co2 and HPA. An RT Valve can keep up with the fastest electro on full auto. Tuning is either change a spring, which is stupid easy, or use an allen key or thumb adjuster to change your velocity. Really the only thing you need to do valve wise is add or take away a shim - if switching from c02 or HPA.
Pretty simple, and reliable guns....did I mention you can submerge them in warm soapy water to clean them? Show me another gun that says that in the manual lol

I love my Blazer and Pyre - the Pyre is in my Gearbag as a secondary pump - in two years I haven't had to do anything but lube it - shoots 280, 281, 280, 281 all day lol, played with it every week last year - it's a beast like the Blazer. But if $300 is his MAX to spend on everything....wouldn't be cost effective lol
