So after acquiring several guns and playing, im absolutely in love with the feel of my invert mini and a ninja 50/4500 tank, my question is what higher end guns "feel" and or have similar dimensions as the mini, i play well with it and manuever well with it, it just feels right, i like the feel of the closer to vertical trigger hand grip versus the grip of "lets say a" pmr, and i like the+distance+between the trigger grip and what would be the regulator on other markers, so any suggeations of a higher end marker with a similar grip pattern to the mini, my first looks are the luxe 2.0 and the dm14, both are without macro lines and have more of an ergonomic front grip, are there others im missing and have you ever+held or played with a dm14 or luxe to compare it too a mini "comfort wise" thanks a ton

nothing will have the same size as the mini. it is the smallest marker out there. your step up will be to the Axe. theres an argument as to whether or not the Axe is a mid or a high level, but around here we have come to consensus that on PBF we will classify it as mid level. but its still a tourney marker nonetheless.

i'm partial to the Egos, the LV1 is a beast.

from a mini to a luxe, thats from the shortest geometry to one of, if not the longest geometry

the thing is you are used to the mini and so anything else is going to feel strange compared to it. the whole dye line will have much MUCH thinner grips than the mini because they do not have the fat air transfer tube through them. compared to a mini the dye line will have grips about half as thick so they will feel very different, I am with a lot of people and say they are among some of the most comfortable in the industry but it would take a lot of getting used to coming off of a mini for sure. The problem is the mini is an odd ball in the industry so it is going to be quite difficult to find anything similar. I would say try out an etek 3 or 4 if you get a chance, they will have some thick-er grips on them and not be overly long. The reason I say etek over ego is the grips, the ego series will all have thinner grips like the DM series but the LV1 may be the exception im not sure though as I have never held one

honestly, dont worry about the lack of macro lines, its not going to make one bit of difference to how they feel in your hands

edit: I agree with huck on the mini and axe being mid range, when you really think about it they are just single tube FASORs anyway

Agreed the luxe is a long profile, none the less has a larger profiled front grip as does the dm14, axe, and mini, you say you like the lv1? Havent done much research into the planet eclipse markers, from what i underatand they are mostly an efficient marker and have a unique sound signature, i guess ill research it also, i guess my must haves in a high end marker are obviously well performing, most of the performance info+seems to be more biased than factual, especially on the paintball topic but foremost the following: 1) macrolineless 2) tight grip profile 3) comfortable or thicker grip points 4) a close to vertical grip frame and

Etek keeps coming up, so ill look into it and i agree that the macroline is not a big deal, although without it, it does seem to help when switching hands @ trbo323, do you agree that the axe/mini, the dye+or the planet eclipse+are the most comfortable? And it is hard to find something similar to a mini, maybe this thread will help, thanks again

I did not say I like the LV1, you should re read my post

why does macro line less matter to you?

Personally I think the dye UL frames are some of the most comfortable (once you have gotten used to them) frames in the industry. I will say that the PE high end stuff tends to be very similar to it though, thats the egos and SL series, and I would assume the LV1 but I have not held one so I am not sure on that. The eteks have the same technology in them but are much more budget friendly but one thing that makes them more budget friendly is the frames are thicker

I have owned a mini (hated it, sold it) and currently have a DM6 (UL1 frame) and a etek 3, while the etek is a little longer than the mini (which I like) the grip frame still reminds me of it because of the thickness of it, it is slanted more than the mini but if you want to go to another marker you may not have much of an option there

now that I think of it, maybe a angel with one of the 90 frames on it, talk to TLMiller about those, he can fill you in on the angles

one last question, why does macro hose get in your way when switching hands? Im not sure how you are doing that without just full on grabbing the fittings or the ASA

course you could be cool like me and run a drop forward, that would get the ASA out of the way and also keep a much tighter marker to your body, while I had my mini I found that I actually turned corners and cleared rooms faster with my DM6 that has a drop forward that the mini without one

Honestly what it all comes down to is personal preference. all high end and even some mid range markers now are completely capable of preforming flawlessly time after time. The more things that you can hold or play with, the more you will find out what you like.

the mini/axe platform shoots good enough that if you like it, then continue to use it.

About the LV1 (and the ego 11, to a lesser extent):
They are different than the older ego markers. the older markers were "built for the masses" and to shoot as many BPS as possible. They can be used and abused and still work. The shot quality suffers, though. They are LOUD and have a decent amount of kick. With the ego 11 and LV1,

Planet Eclipse decided that they were going to go for a softer, smoother shot rather than a loud, hard hitting shot. The ego 11 isn't terrible if it is tuned properly, but the LV1 really nailed it. They're as smooth as a G6R, which is incredible for a stacked tube poppet valve.

The macrolineless feature feels better to me when switching hands, i dont have to be aware of the line when transitioning hands, i seem to always tag the fitting or the line when trying to switch,+without it i can slide my hand down the front grip and quickly come up with the other from any angle without encountering a line or fitting

The closest profile i+have found is a shocker sft, the body is longer on the sft but grip frame to reg dimensions ar almost+identical, i havent held an nxt yet, but soon will, i guess i just need to get to a comprehensive shop and start handling a few, around here all the shops carry is tippmann junk (no punt intended, i just dont like plastic) or the whole milsim thing, my pmr would be great the drop forward brings it tight but too high, feels likeim looking under the body, and the ul grip frame is too narrow, maybe thicker grips, dunno yet

my pmr would be great the drop forward brings it tight but too high, feels likeim looking under the body,
then you missed the entire point of the drop forward as you are trying to put the tank in the same place on your body. the point is not so move the marker higher but to move the tank forward and lower. You still aim down the marker just like you would without one, down the side the only difference with the marker is it is closer to your face. the tank needs to be placed further down your shoulder or more towards your bicep/chest, if you are trying to put the tank where you were before then it is not going to help you one bit

and the ul grip frame is too narrow, maybe thicker grips, dunno yet
i thought you might say this, the UL frame is designed to be narrow, there is not going to be a large difference in grips for it. The problem is the mini has one of the thickest grip frames in the mid range and up markers out there so pretty much everything is going to feel more narrow, just one of the many ways empire made the thing ass backwards just to be different

i hate to get into accuracy cuz its so controversial, but in general, arent your higher end markers more capable of making consistant shots and or "ropes/ darts"?
whats controversial about accuracy?

I agree with huck, while consistency will play a roll, there is nothing in any marker design that will make one marker more accurate than another, as long as you are looking at e-framed markers, a $150 spyder fenix can throw ropes just as well as a $1500 DM14, that does not mean there are not other benefits to going with the DM but across the board markers have gotten much better in the last 10 years so you dont necessarily even need to have some top of the line marker just to compete anymore

one note, can you please proof read your posts before posting? I was having a few difficulties figuring out what you were trying to say in a few of your comments.

When i do find ones that have an similar feel to the mini, ones that are considered a high3r end markers, ill post my results on here for those looking to get that same feel in a better marker, just to add i really enjoy the mini, im a small guy, 5'7" on a pumped ego kinda day, my skills are becoming more honed (i drill almost everyday) and i believe a more consistent marker will not be a wasted investment, i hate to get into accuracy cuz its so controversial, but in general, arent your higher end markers more capable of making consistant shots and or "ropes/ darts"?

Consistency is really what you're getting when you pay for a high end marker. Shot per shot consistency means that you won't have random velocity spikes or drops or a wide velocity range. This translates to your paint going to the same place each shot.

There's nothing controversial about accuracy. Buy better paint, receive better flight/breaking qualities.
