parents have problems with paintball welts
I posted this before the hack but since I dont see it here ill repost.
My parents have a problem with my brother going paintballing. They think hes way too skinny and it will damage his internals when the paintballs impact. I convinced my dad to let him go but my mom is constantly going on about this. She works at a hospital so that only makes things worse. She still wont let him go even if he wears one of those protective vests. I have yet to find an article on the internet about dangerous paintball welts that would affect him.
Does anyone know of any websites that tell that it isnt as dangerous as she thinks it is?

Well, I think it was Tom Kaye or someone along those lines did EXTENSIVE testing on this exact stuff before paintball went mainstream...hence why we have the 300fps rule. They discovered that a paintball could damage someone above 300fps. Nick (HP) could probably tell you more than I could, but I think that'smainly what happened.

one person gets seriously injured in golf every 2 years
while only one person in paintball gets injured in every 3
hmmm....and last time i checked, golf wasn't notorious for casualties...

Well getting hit by hockey pucks, baseballs, etc. would be worse than a small gelatin ball that will break and not bounce about 70% of the time.

When I first came home with my awesome welts , my mom was freaking out, but I told her that It only hurt for the first few seconds, and that I didn't mind them, she understood, and seems to not care so much anymore.

We were playin endurance to where u get shot, u either say I'm out or return to your base. WEll, I got stupid. My teammate quit after the first shot and I took off my shirt cuz I was hot. I think my stepsister's boyfriend counted 24 bruises where he could see. My mom freaked but I told her it was battle scars.

welts are just internal bleeding, you popped a few capillaries, but you have billions in your body, and they heal after a few days

If your mother works at a Hospital, she should know that mild bruises have really no negative health factors except slight coloration of the skin and discomfort of the area. There are many skinny paintballers that have been playing for years without getting any serious injury. Take SkinnyK ( www.skinnyk.com) from Dynasty for an example. He has been playing paintball since most of the members here were in diapers. He plays for Team Dynasty, which is a highly ranked team and is often regarded as one of the best teams in the world. He is obviously very skinny, hence the nick-name SkinnyK, and has never been injured because of that.

The one time i ever was even in seriouse pain was just bad luck. My own teammate shot me right in the butt while we were hiding behind a bunker. It hurt, but i got over it pretty quick, although it was a little painful goin to the bathroom...

You know what you should do to resolve this issue? Have your mother look in a medical reference guide, or book.
Just take her to where it talks about brusing, and what kind of effects it has on the body. It is that simple!
With her working in a hospital should should already understand what a bruise is, but just to show her it is ok and isn't going to damage her son for life show her the book.

shes gonna ask a doctor today. right now shes worried about it puncturing the skin. I told her thats why we have the 300fps rule and that it would still take multiple shots in the same area to cause a puncture which is unlike especially since you get called out when you get hit.

I've only seen actual bleeding from a paintball once. That was when my friend was playing speedball at his neighboors(they built their own field), and was bunkered when it was pretty cold out. His finger (where he got hit) had a little spot of blood, because it was right on the bone. The guys A-5 wasnt chronoed for awhile though, since they play at home, so it couldve been past 300fps.
