Paintball Marker?????????
Hey everyone, I'm new to this site. I have been playing paintball for a while now and I've been using rental equipment every time I go. Last summer I went out and bought myself a Brass Eagle Talon (HAHA) just to fool 'round with in my backyard, etc... It's fun to play around with and shoot some paintballs, BUT I really need my own marker and stuff, something that I can play games and such with (tourney's, etc...) Anyway I'll get to the point, I NEED A MARKER!!! I live in Lloydminster, AB, Canada and the only place here to buy any "good" guns is Canadian Tire... (I know what some of you guys are thinking, so keep the negative comments to yourself!) Anyway these are the guns that i have considered; Viewloader Genesis Surge Kit ($299.99), Viewloader Orion Kit ($199.99), JT Excellerator 3.5 (NOT A KIT) ($349.99)... These are the only "good" markers they have. So I need you guys to point me in the right direction, for which gun I end up buying in the end, that would be great if you could do this for me. Also if you maybe could refer another marker/marker kit , that would also be great.....
Thanks everyone!

SCrew JT and View Loader. They will break very easily. Get a Tippmann or a Spyder. I'd reccomend a spyder if you eventually want to play in amateur tourneys. A good spyder with a HPA, a hopper and a new barrel is what you should shoot for. If you haev 500 to spend, that will get you going. IF you haev more $$, get an autococker. You need a mask too, don forget.

Ok, first off, welcome to the forum, another canadian , anyway, you should probably think of ordering something off the internet, don't ask for a site, we can only say www.xpaintball.com here, anyway, i personally think you should get a spyder, since you mentioned you may be playing a few tournaments. I think a spyder xtra, tl-x, or rodeo would probably be good, but, if you are low on cash, you should look into the spyder victor 2. If you are looking for an electric gun, the spyder imagine would be a good choice, it's pretty cheap, i don't know the exact amount though anyway, that's what i have to say about that...

Cheap, fast, good for lower end tourneys? You want a Spyder Imagine my friend.
The Spyder Imagine is definately a great beginners gun. It's electronic, giving you the speed you need on the field. It comes with a bunch of different firing modes too (full auto, burst fire) but you won't be able to use those at a "real" field. The Imagine works fine off of CO2, and HPA alike. For consistency purposes, if/when you have the money, get a nice HPA tank. Next thing n your list is gonna be an electronic hopper to keep up with your markers ROF (Rate of Fire). Since Spyder boards are capped at 13bps, you would be just fine with an Empire Reloader. It's a sound activated hopper that agitates the balls inside the hopper to prevent a jam basically everytime the gun is fired. After that, you could pick up a new barrel, CP 1 pieces seem to be the best. Or if you have more money to blow and felt like sticking with the Spyder for a while, you could always go with a barrel kit. Then would come a regulator, I suppose. Or a bolt. A regulator would do more for your gun than the bolt would, but by this point it'd probably be pointless to dump anymore money into a spyder.
Hope it helped :]

Yeah, if you'll be playing tournaments, I recommend the Spyder Imagine with a crap-load of upgrades. If you want something that can shoot abit faster, then I suggest going for the Spyder E99 or E99 Avant. If you would like a good, inexpensive mechanical (non-electric) marker, I suggest going for either the Spyder TL-X or Spyder Rodeo.

I would go with the JT out of those, but try to order off the net. You can PM me for a Canadian site, if that helps. Anyway, I would get an Imagine. Don't forget though, you also need:
Mask
Harness
Tank
Loader!

go to paintball gear (action village), spend about 75 bucks on a spyder xtra, then buy some equipment. buy enough equipment (barrel, maybe?) to go over $100 and u got a nice xtra with free shipping (action village/paintball gear is free ground shipping with orders over $100).

while i like autocockers their manual is horrible so unless you go to the proshop to buy and theyll show you how to mantain and time it...
i know otter does the same thing but you cant substitute someone you can ask questions to.
in that price range i would go with a tippmann 98c if you arent really intrested in tournies. if you are i would either get a spyder imagine, spyder e99, some piranha(dont know their line), or a dragun TES. these are all cheaper than the ones that you put as examples but these are just as good if not better. and if you like tournies your gonna be upgrading to a cocker/impulse/other low end electropneumatic gun relativly soon
in terms of upgrades get a cheap barrel(J&J ceramic $30), a 3000PSI or 4500PSI fiberwrapped tank, and a halo B(yes i know thei expensive but its better than upgrading twice).

If your mom will not let you order off the internet, then do a little research and find a paintball store near you. If they don't carry the marker you are interested in, they will probably not mind ordering it for you. It will be a little bit more expensive than ordering online yourself, but your mom shouldn't complain because you are buying it from a store, not ordering online. Then all you need to do is plan a day to drive to the store, (near you in Alberta might be a long day trip), surely if your mom will let you buy a $400 marker from Canadian tire, she won't mind driving a few hours to let you get a superior marker for hopefully a better price, because those prices seem high, even in Canadian funds.
Edit: Just looked up Loydminster on an online map, and it looks like you're only about 300k outside of Edmonton, not that close, but I'm sure you could convince your mom to make a day trip. I also searched for paintball stores in Edmonton and got quite a few hits, so you should be good. Good luck.
