Jammed marker
As a family, we are new to the sport... My 12 year old bought a Spyder Xtra about 2 weeks ago. It seems to be jammed. He first thought it was out of CO2. But you cannot pull the "hammer" back. He has taken it apart as he usually does to clean it but can't get anything to budge. When I look down the barrel, I can see the "bolt" against where I assume the paintball falls in from the hopper. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!!

Sounds like he may have broken a ball and the shell got stuck between the inside of the body and the bolt. You'll have to just pull as hard as you can in order to pull it out and clean it.

or, take the whole trigger frame off...then the bolt and everything should come out...or you could take the vertical adapter off...(where the hopper connects) and see if you can push it out from there.

the same thing has happened to me twice, one reason is you might hafto oil it because its not getting enough friction( Oil it where metal meets mostly ) OR there is a paint shell stuck in the side of the bolt get something like, pencil, long squeegie ewtc. to puch it out the other side, this is how I solved both problems...

Unjam marker
Thanks all.... I thought that might be the answer.
So it is okay to disassemble the top barrel portion? What is a sensitive area that we SHOULDN'T mess with?
Thanks again!

you really dont have to many sensitive parts in a mech spyder. it sounds like he broke a ball in the breech, and a shard of broken shell is lodged inbetween the body and the bolt. i suggest taking off the beaver tail and the trigger frame, and then pull the bolt back as hard as you can and it'll come loose. then take the hammer and bolt out, clean everything, and reassemble the marker. keep you gun diagram that came with you gun handy if you dont know how the gun works and how to reassemble it.

Take off the CO2 and just take out every screw in the gun with a hex key.. Do this on a towel, and when you do it, spread the parts out so the gun looks like its assembled but there is a good inch or two between all teh parts. Look at the booklet that came with the gun too.
Oil any and every O-ring, and if any of them look like they are hwite or broken, replace them. But onyl replace the clear tank o-rings. The otehr black ones must be taken specially from a spyder kit becuase you need the special black ones to function properly.

This exact same thing happened to me with the exact same gun. What me and my dad did was oil it up (with paintball oil) and get a bag for any extra parts that would fly out. Then I just pulled really hard and he hit one of my old drumsticks at the bolt using a mallet, it popped right off. Also what kind of paint were you using? This happened to me using bad paint, such as 32° RPS premiums have never let me down. It is incredibly worth it to buy quality paint.

the easiest thing to do is to take a screwdriver, then put it on a flat part of the bolt, and bang teh bolt ack with your palm, just carry a screwdriver with you on the feild and you can unjam your guhnn if your in a game

After taking the trigger assembly off put the upper part of the receiver, where the bolt is, in hot water for a while. That should soften up the gelatin shell enough to easily remove the bolt. (Assuming that a shell is causing the problem)

Like everyone else is saying, "oil it" their all right but dont take the gun apart and oil every single piece, just a few drops in the bottom line adapter(where the C02 goes) and shoot it a couple times...with the barrel OFF...then your good to go, and you should do that everytime before you play or even shoot your gun..it could ware down alot of things if you dont...HOPE YOU GET IT FIXED

Success!
I went home and put a little brute force behind the effort to pull the "hammer" back and out it popped. Yes, a nasty little piece of ball was found. I had just been hesitant to force it before.
Shoots like a champ again!
Thanks to all of you!!!

Glad you got it working. There's not a whole lot of things that will go wrong with a mech Spyder. Glad we could be of assistance

One or two drops isn't sufficient enough to correctly oil the bolt and the o-rings on the bolt.

when you take you whole bolt assembly out (bolt, hammer, spring, etc) take your body, take off the barrel, get a paper towel and pour some rubbing alcohol over it, and run it through your body, this should take out any paint or shell fragments that may still be there
