The uses of Spyder clones and Tippmans. Applies to "Which gun to get?" posts.

*****THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A WHICH IS BETTER THREAD, NO ARGUING OR FLAMING******

I've seen many threads lately of what gun to get. Inevitably Spyder Clones and Tippmans are some of the first guns to come up. People always say Tippmans if you play woods and Spyder clones if you play speed. AND I'M SO TIRED OF THIS MISINFORMATION.

Spyders are very reliable guns, don't require much taking care of. They are accurate, fast (if electronic), and are one of the most well working guns for the price out there. They are also VERY durable. Think about it, I always here people say that you can drop a Tippy off of a building and it will work fine. But think about this: what can you actually brake on a spyder besides a plastic feedneck elbow that costs $2? You could likely throw it off of a building too (although I wouldn't advise this with any gun) without damaging it. It's made out of aluminum and plastic, just like Tippys.

Tippmans are also reliable, and they take slightly less care to keep in good condition, but not a signifigant amount less. They are made out of the same materials of spyders, and therefore, are just as durable. They are accurate, fast (if electric or R/T) and are also a well working gun, only a very little more expensive than a blowback. True, they are larger than spyders, but most people can still play fairly tight on a speedball field with it, I know I can. And the same goes for woods, you can play tightly. As for weight, Tippies are a little heavier, but this won't really matter to most new players, and very few experienced players still use these 2 markers.

In conclusion, both Spyder clones and Tippmans are excellent starter guns for speedball or woodsball, regardless of what somepeople say.

As for which is better, that's up to the user and what they do to upgrade them. I personally believe that Spyders have more upgrades avaliable and they are most certainly cheaper. They will also preform about the same, so I would always go with the spyder. That decision, however, is up to you.

Of course, I doubt this article will do any good, so please disregard the previous statements.

i don't know about that, because you must remeber, no one ever reads the stickies. i think we should just bump it up a lot unless a mod really thinks it needs one.

I actually started writing a guide like this.. I reviewed 5 beginner guns. An Imagination(), a PMI Eforce 2k4, a 98 Custom, a phantom, and a cheap cocker.. I only got around to the first three though

this isn't so much a review as trying to clear up the misconceptions of the applications of tippmans and spyders.

I've always thought the reliability issue between the two was rather silly. They all (along with EVERY other PB marker) have parts that will wear out like internal O-rings and also have the same weaknesses to damage from impact with either the hopper breaking off or the airline leaking/breaking off.

Nice job with this outlaner. I never knew you could drop a spyder or tippman off a building and still have it in good condition. Might have to put this to the test sometime.

the stickies go unread. i'd like to just keep bumping up to the top for a while, then perhaps a sticky.

and, badinflewins, i wouldn't suggest you drop ANY marker off of a building, i just said that they'd... preform similarly in that test.

like I said, i'd advise against doing this. that is just stupid to add extra abuse to a marker like that.
