To let u know paintball in general is an expensive sport. Thought i would just put that out there.

Good beginner markers would be:
Spyders
Piranhas
Tippmann
Other STBs

It depends on what u want to get into. Speedball, woodsball, or just to have some fun. I would get an electronic gun anyway (Spyder, Piranha).

Good Masks that arent expensive but are still 1337:
JT Proflex
JT Flex 7

Or if u wanna spend the extra cash get a Vforce Profiler

U wanna get pods and packs too. Dont get nitro, get like a 20 oz Co2.

Hope i helped and welcome to the sport and PbF.

Speedball is played on a small field with inflatable bunkers or sewer pipes etc.Woodsball is played in a woodsy invironment and if you are getting into woodsball I recommend a Tippmann 98custom and if you are going to think about playing speedball more get a Spyder(Imagine and almost any spyder is fine) or a Piranha(SRT or EVO and so on.).If you like fast paced stuff and lots of shooting play speedball,If you like kind of slow and more stealthy play then pick woodsball. If you play woodsball I recommend wearing camo.

For starting guns, I'd reccomend a Spyder Victor. The Victors are low priced ($50.00) and are upgradeable. You can get a package that has the Victor gun, mask, CO2, hopper, barrel squeegee, barrel cover, and spare parts kit for only $110.00. After that you just need to get your tank filled (around 5-6 bucks) and paintballs (about 1500 balls for $30). If you want to go even less, get a pump marker.

A pump marker would be a good idea because it would improve your skills faster than if you bought an electro or something,it would teach you to have better aim and better snapshooting abilities so getting a pump marker would actually be a good idea for you.

ya but spending 300 on a phantom isnt a good idea, if you go pump for a while try an ACI or something its only 50-60 bucks

Tippmann 98 Custom

Pros
-Easily matnienced
-Durable
-More of a military appearance(if thats your thing)
-Upgradable(double trigger, ebolt, RT, ect...)
-Flat black(doesnt stick out in woodsball)
-Doesnt need batteries

Cons
-Slow
-Long
-a little heavier then a spyder
-having a monocolor military looking marker would stick out in speedball courses

Spyder Victor and other mechanicle spyders

Pros
-Flashy cosmetics(if your into that)
-comes with double trigger
-Cheapest
-Doesnt need batteries

Cons
-cosmetics will stick out in woodsball
-higher matnience & less durable then a tippmann

*NOTE*
In this price range i would stick with spyder since other companies(Brass Eagle, View Loader, ect..) tend to cut corners.

Spyder Imagine and other electronic blowbacks

Pros
-much faster rate of fire
-Flashy cosmetics(if your into that)
-multiple firing modes(though fields wont allow them)

Cons
-needs batteries
-higher matnience & less durable then a tippmann
-needs an agitated loader($45, VL revolution) right away if you are to use it to its full potential
-more expensive then a tipmann or mech. spyder.

-------------------------------------------------------------

whichever gun you buy i would suggest the following set up:
-gun
-mask(go to a proshop and try them on. $40)
-20oz CO2($20)
-either a revvy or a J&J Ceramic barrel(a revvy if you buy the electronic spyder) as your first upgrade.

It mostly depends on your budget. If you have a low budget then look into a Spyder Victor which can be upgraded later on for better performance. If you have about $200 then get a Spyder Imgaine along with some upgrades.

~~~Glad To Help~~~
